Trickster Spirit is a beautiful magic carpet ride of a bop, racing giddily at breakneck-speed across the more neon end of the rave spectrum. Taking in acid, hardcore, breakbeat and gabba, this is Coldsteel’s first full length long player to date, following recent EPs for the likes of Audio Bambino, Hardest Soft & Nooit Meer Naar Huis.

Young buck, Darius Shaol (aka DJ Coldsteel) delivers the goods - snacking on samples from far and wide and then spewing them up back again alongside his own deeply infectious harmonies & rhythms. Melodies are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed but divisive (see historical tricksters such as the fox, Pan and sprites et al). “Growing up in the U.S, I feel uncomfortable saying this but the album is intentionally cheeky. It lives in a cloud kingdom above grind, style and pragmatism”.

We want to redirect the focus to matters that often fall short in the hectic of everyday life. We dedicate this moment to artists that deserve a platform, to our friendships, that deserve love and cherishing, but also to people who live at the margins of society. Many of them are in danger and on the verge of disappearing out of our sight and consequently deserve more attention. For these reasons, the profits of this compilation and the individual tracks will be split 50/50 between each artist and multiple organisations who advocate for the underprivileged and a better future.

Europa is a moniker of a German-born, Paris-based but World-souled artist and musician Moritz Haas. After engaging in music making for quite some time, he describes his recent work as being created lightweightly, on the go, often just with a laptop on his legs, rushing from one place to another. This unsettled rhythm of shattered landscape quickly passing by and changing into fragments of impressions and memories opens itself into a rushing tunnel of different genres, melting tender melodies with angry beats and diverse cultural and linguistic references, transporting the listener to surprisingly vivid musical and political landscapes. Echoing our broken cultures torn into sharp yet fragile pieces, his music scatters samples across multiple layers and merges them into new constellations of united yet eclectic harmonies hitting you to the very core. Evoking the now rare and fading pre-viral flashbacks of muffled sounds escaping the dancefloor through chattering window glass at a foggy dawn, Europa’s music resonates with pressing melancholy that doesn’t leave us dwelling in apathy but makes our hearts beat in the frenetic urgent rhythm of possible change. The present EP seethes with this ever-transforming fiery energy, fulfilling Europa's own words: “ I guess I've always been trying to hunt after that hybrid moment of blissful rave and melodrama.
