Creative concept of ‚DARK-CORE SCALE‘ compilation, a debut release of Prague-based collective UNIZONE which also hosts an eponymous party series and a radio show, represents the fascination with the dark corners of human mind. Collaboration of fifteen producers, curated by UNIZONE soulmates and club-night-ex-guests from all around the world, brings together a wide spectrum of dark club aesthetics, ranging from rave- influenced bangers and nervous rhythms to experimental deconstruction and nightmarish sound design. Nevertheless, for compilation contributors, the process of interpreting ‚dark-core‘ theme has not only negative or connotations, but rather deliberating and sometimes even calming effect. Or, using a hyperbole, ‚DARK-CORE SCALE‘ could be described as a ‚reversed industrial music‘ – as a collaborative release of producers using external tools and sounds for self-exploration.
