After memorable parties in Canterbury and Leeds in May, and with even bigger plans forthcoming for Lancaster and London, the arrival of that glorious currant bun in the sky can coincide perfectly with the release of our first official Guest Mix. 

Stepping up to the plate to launch our series of Guest Mixes is none other than long-time friend Beach Justice, who has forsaken his more dancefloor-driven attitude to bring us an absolutely sensual slice of mid-tempo funk that trawls the length and breadth of his vast musical ordnance. An astonishingly varied, versatile mix at home on the terrace, by the pool or driving the pre-drinks, BJ’s collection of self-confessed “guilty pleasures” is truly something to be proud of.

The Lowdown
My Way is the sixth installment of limited edition vinyl EPs released by Phil Weeks.  The song shows a style that Phil has become famous for, with his own unmistakable, lazy Parisian vocal laid over a relentlessly driving and sleazy groove.  In the same way that Hypnose (with it’s “Yeah I like that” vocal) and All Day Every Day (which topped Beatport’s House chart in 2010) connected so well with DJs and clubbers, My Way looks set to have the same impact.  The original mix comes backed with an instrumental and acapella and will be released on limited vinyl on 29th November, followed by digital download later in the year.

Phil Weeks is also now synonymous with bringing his music and personality to life with visuals, and a video for My Way is already in the works, which will be translated into seven languages.

This EP by Armas (aka François Rengère) features 3 different tracks and is released by the Japan-based label "Rock River Records".

"Illusions" is a very melodic, emotional and moody tune. It can roughly be qualified as progressive house track, but doesn't have any kind of big room character to it. It's accompanied by warm guitar sounds and a catchy vocal sample, whispering into the atmosphere from time to time.

"Phantasms" was actually a first experiment with Steve Duda's famous "Cthulhu" vst plugin. I was trying out different settings and functions of this piece of software and ended up having most of the ideas for this track. A couple of months later, I gave it the final touch.

"Get Real" is a pretty straight forward tune. Compared to the other two tracks, it's less complex and maybe also less warm, has more open filters and can be considered a little more rough than the other two tunes, picking you up from a dreamy state of mind to take you back to reality.
