It’s been exactly one year since I started releasing music under the name Silk Static. I had flirted with the heavier side of electronic before that, but one year ago I decided it was more than just a fling and I released my debut EP “Germination”.

Since then, I’ve been endlessly amazed by the response. Playing with sound is my absolute favourite thing to do, so sharing that with people means the world to me. To celebrate Silk Static’s birthday, I reworked one of my favourite tracks from “Germination”.

“Bitter Roots” is a quintessential Silk Static track. Contrasting organic textures and instruments with heavily processed bass, it perfectly embodies the juxtaposition of natural and synthetic that's at the core of this project. Delving into both DnB, as well as halftime flavours, Bitter Roots is a crowd pleaser and has been my most anticipated unreleased track since writing it.

The full “Mind’s Eye” EP drops next week, and in just 7 songs it covers Drum & Bass, Halftime, 140, and even Midtempo 😬

Intersect is a part of the current evolution in bass music; crafting original productions which bend and blend genres, incorporating elements of Halftime Bass, UK Dub, Trap, Future Bass, Grime and beyond..

Based in Nelson BC, Rahj Levinson and Scott Milne met while performing in the legendary band Wassabi Collective. Sharing a love of electronic music, they decided to collaborate - crafting a unique sound that has led to releases on California’s Muti Music & Mallabel Music imprints, as well as homegrown labels like Really Good Recordings and East Van Digital.

Joining forces to pool their resources and talents has proven to be a fruitful endeavour, opening the door to perform at festivals like Shambhala and Bass Coast, and to share stages with world class acts like Dimond Saints, Eprom, Sam Binga, and The Librarian.

Building and expanding on their combined histories to create yet another musical legacy as Intersect, the duo is bringing the heat to dance floors everywhere with their singular brand of low-end beats - combining dark textures, uplifting melodies, vocal chops and mind-melting, sub-bass frequencies.
