Intersezioni Sonore is proud to present "it is what it is", the debut EP of Italian producer Francesco Guida, alias Substraat. "it is what it is" is a collection of four tracks produced between July 2024 and April 2025.

Here, the artist's various influences emerge, ranging from techno, drum & bass, and IDM, reworked with a very personal approach.

Each track explores different sounds, maintaining a similar structure. It transitions from bizarre and strange electronic percussions, rigorously programmed (in a way that's quite refined), mixed with acoustic ones like in "Perkintosh", a drum & bass/IDM track at 172 bpm, to sharp and metallic sound design, delayed rhythmic accents in space, and organic textures in "Testing Your Scales", continuing with drums that faintly recall dub sounds but reorganized into a new and original groove in "it is what it is", and ending with the track "Tadpoles", where aquatic flashes, serene environments and warm rhythms lead you on a meditative journey.

Each track exposes different sounds but is united by a well-defined rhythmic instance, easily attributable to the artist Substraat, who with this EP attempts to bring order to the chaos of noises, making everything pleasant and hypnotic, always following a minimalist ethic. It seeks to trace new connections, starting from the fervent need to explore new territories; like an internal engine that pushes to see beyond the obvious and to delve into what interests, acquiring new information with which to experiment and create "new states of mind" to share with the world.
