Hello friends! I'm Matt, aka battlam, and I'd like to invite you to watch/listen to my submission for this year's Symmetry Fest DJ Competition! 

Symmetry is in it's second year, and I plan on making my way to the corn fields again this October--hopefully playing an official set! I went last year, fulfilling many dreams and finally meeting so many URL friends IRL, and making new ones along the way. They say "don't meet your heroes", but all the artists I met in Iowa proved to be the exception to that rule. 

My time last year was so significant--I was invited by my friend Daxton to play a renegade set, which was the first "official" set I ever played. The fest itself, my set, the camaraderie with the other artists and festival goers, ALL of it was so inspiring and so fulfilling after being a huge fan of wave music since it's inception nearly 10 years ago. Going to the event was the catalyst leading me to the recording of this set -- I've finally decided to take this music thing seriously, and this is probably my peak effort to date. 

A dream is that MY artistic vision aligns with that of the festival/production staff, and that I can share the stage with the most influential artists in my life, in an official capacity. This mix is my shot at making this dream come true: I've chosen to showcase some of my favorite tunes and artists, old and new.
 
I've done my best to craft an energetic, futuristic, and engaging journey through wave, hardwave, neogrime & adjacent sounds, hoping to convey the inspiration behind "battlam" as an art project: the feelings of enduring hope, belief in your dreams, never giving up, and a love for the process versus perfection.
