South Yorkshire’s Intervene are back with their second drop of 2021, 'Wasted' - a hedonistic post-punk banger that picks up exactly where its predecessor 'The Conquering' left off. 

'Wasted' is the noise of a group that have found their sound - a rapid, aggressive three minute trip that captures Intervene at their most melodic yet. 

Beneath it's nihilistic exterior, the narrative is brutally honest and introspective, with Jack Constantine’s distorted vocals more unhinged than ever. 

"As a group we've got into a terrible habit of never releasing anything we do," says Jack. "We write, record, listen, and then we're on to the next new thing. We think that's pretty much the way you should work as an artist, but then we also wonder why no-one wants us to play any festivals. I guess we need to concentrate on sharing a bit more, there's so much that no-one outside of the band has heard. 'Wasted' is the beginning of a new time for us, and we're ready - other than the fact we should probably get a live agent." 

The new single also features a guest performance from Backstage Brass' Sam Fisher on trumpets, after an impromptu introduction to the group on the day before the track was recorded - while delivering timber to the keyboardist Steve Regan's house. 

Recorded and engineered in Attercliffe, Sheffield, by Jack Howorth at The Warren Studios, with further mixing and mastering completed by award-winning Executive Producer Pete Brazier, Wasted is another aggressive anarchic offering from one of the area's most excited undiscovered groups.

‘The Conquering’ hits on Friday 29th January 2021, self-released through the Intervene’s own Major Players Records label. The three minute riot kicks off immediately, as the punchy, aggressive riff of Tom Rodgers is matched by the unmistakeable sound of a Vox Continental.

Intervene take inspiration from far corners of the Alternative landscape, sighting everything from Happy Mondays to Parquet Courts as influences.

Formed in Misson, a minuscule village on the border of South Yorkshire, Intervene have flown under the radar since their inception in early 2017. After three years honing their own distinctive sound, the band have emerged as a tight, fierce five piece.
