Following on from Kerrie’s two-part series, ‘We Continue’, CE’s vinyl-only Cultivated Electronics Ltd enlists Lake Haze to make his debut for the label with ‘Osmosis’.

Electro-heads will already be very familiar with this electronic DJ and producer from Lisbon in Portugal.  His unfailing musical skills have found their way onto labels like Crème Organization, Unknown To The Unknown, Shall Not Fade and many more.  Not forgetting his new vinyl label, Atlantic Thunder launched earlier this year.

Here he delivers four rugged Electro cuts geared up for the world’s opening dance floors.

In the distance he could see the horizon, the end was in sight. Was he being entirely reasonable? Were his intentions pure?

Probably not. But as the car whizzed towards the cliff edge like some sort of extra from Thelma and Lousie, he cared little but for his decisions.

Cultivated Electronics Ltd's "For The Floor" series features split EPs available on vinyl (only) with Electro tracks aimed strictly at the dance floor, bringing together CE regulars alongside new artists.  Previous instalments have presented tracks by DeFeKT, Rico Casazza, Tripeo, Cycloplex, Steve Allman and Alex Jann.  Volume 4 now delivers 2 new tracks apiece by Ben Pest and Maëlstrom.

Bristol's Ben Pest has established notoriety as an exponent of jacking live hardware-based techno and electro with numerous releases on labels including Asking For Trouble, I Love Acid, No Static / Automatic, Orson Records, Don't and more.  Here he delivers heavy bass, vocal distortions and tough beats on "Who Would Have Thought I'd Be" and the accompanying "26 Hybrid".

Maëlstrom has a history of aliases and side projects, illegal raves thrown in warehouses, fields and basements, but he came into his own under his Maëlstrom moniker, releasing music on the likes of RAAR (the label he co-founded with Louisahhh), Cultivated Electronics, Central Processing Unit, Mechatronica, Private Persons and Discos Atónicos.  Back on CE, he brings a metallic sound to his punchy and rugged tracks "ASCII TWINS" and "PERMANENCY".

Each track is a lesson in itself, an exploration of the boundaries that separate the human from the machine, blurring the line between the two. Through midnight rituals, CENTRALDATA invites us to participate in a new sensory experience where sensations become abstract and intense. The neo-futuristic DNA of this work is perceived in every layer of its enigmatic structure, concealing its true identity behind a virtual veil. The rhythms behave like a dynamic algorithm, adapting, mutating, and revealing new facets with each listen. This project acts as a transcriber of coded emotions, where hybrid analog and digital technology coexist, generating new sensations.

"To launch our record label, we at Bouquet. wanted to lead with a V/A compiling compelling and unusual tracks from both new and established artists that we respected. We wanted to be true to our namesake, and offer different shapes and shades and colors of music that went together pleasingly and cohesively. We turned to our friend Caffeine Worldwide" :
"Last year, the party series Bouquet asked me to curate a compilation for them as a means of launching their new record label. The idea was: eight tracks, eight artists, and a pay-what-you-want release that would send a portion of proceeds to charity. Sounded easy enough.
I dropped a line to every working producer I knew personally or was merely aware of; I scoured Soundcloud for new artists; I damn-near harassed some of my closest friends for interesting work. Eight months and a thousand Facebook messages later, and it’s finally ready for you to rinse.
Rather than the random collection of b-sides and sketches that characterizes most digi comps, Bouquet. and I were very keen on making this a cohesive collection from front to back. I think we ended up with exactly that—and a collection that reflects the eclectic, fun party lineups that Bouquet. usually books.

We start our journey on the side A with « Hante » remix, an aerial slide into the past, followed by an heroic take-over from blind delon, a tender hit from Buzz Kull & a drunk dance by Peines Perdues.

Side B reveals a dangerous Poison point command followed by a ravish slam from Raven and a deadly outro from Volcan to close the book.

Set for release on March 13th 2020, Marlon Hoffstadt’s debut album Planet Love marks the ninth release on his label, since its launch in 2017.

Having established his very own signature sound over the years, navigating through feelings from house, disco, trance and eurodance, Planet Love showcases these sensibilities in a long listening format.

While he seemed to not take himself too seriously throughout his past releases, naming records “Ready For Take Hoff” and “Der Hoffmaster”, Marlon now touches a topic which, over time got more and more serious and important to him. Having dealt with anxiety and panic attacks in the past he developed his very own mantra, which one could already recover in projects such as his phone free "Savour The Moment" events at Berlin's Renate.

“Be kind. Be humble. Take Care. Give Love. Because only love will set you free”.

This simple but powerful mantra, that he kicks his album off with, is not only his very own guide through insecurity and fears that he faces in his life as a musician, father, student and promoter. Much more it is a reminder that true success is not defined by heavy touring, big money and fame. Instead being successful means to be kind and caring towards yourself, your fellow humans and the environment and that most importantly love is stronger than anything else.

The full album is out March 13th, 2020 and is available digitally as well as on a 2x 12” double LP. It comes along with a full cover artwork from Hermann Reimer, titled "Ewige Gärtner".

Veyl presents 'Nuit' - a split-EP between two excellent projects we're enraptured to share with you. Both hailing from France, Blind Delon (Toulouse) and Contre Soirée (Paris) share a similar vision, bringing music from before any of their birth dates into the world of today.

Dedicating their sound to cold bass lines and synthesizers, the 80s, french post-punk and black romanticism, both acts spent their nights observing, describing, thinking, crying, each in their own way. Building a bridge between the melancholy and urgency defining that era, ’Nuit' is the fruit of this labour and will be out on January 25th.
