It hasn't been the same

Body Language (身体语言) is the newest single from my ongoing collaboration with Davyd on the upcoming album Endless Summer (无尽夏日) - a continuation of our Latin–Chinese fusion that speaks through rhythm, texture, and whispers.

Set against a Latin groove and layered with Mandarin–English lyrics, Body Language lives in the heat between touch and silence, breath and glance. It’s about the language we speak without words - the silent eloquence of flesh in motion.

Produced by Davyd, based in Argentina, Body Language continues our cross-cultural dialogue, blending Latin warmth with Chinese lyricism and letting each beat voice its own desire.

Björn aka @Full-Bucket hat es wieder getan: ein neuer Sythesizer. Dieses mal eine Weiterentwicklung des Ragnarok zu Ragnarok2. Ragnarok 2 ist an vielen Stellen "aufgepppt" worden und ist immer noch so interessant wie der "alte" Ragnarok:

- simuliert einen einmaligen, selbst gebauten Synthesizer aus dem Jahr 1980,
- die Bedienung ist einfach, schnell sind interessante Klänge gemacht,
- soundmässig ist der Synth grossartig, von einfachen bis auch zu (sehr) dreckig klingenden sounds,
- der CPU-Hunger ist gering.

Nach langer Zeit habe ich mir diesen Monat mal wieder etwas Zeit genommen um mit dem Synthesizer ein Stück für den KVR One Synth Challenge zu erstellen (ja, genau: nur dieser Synthesizer ist für alle Klänge erlaubt)
10 Jahre sind seit dem letzten Track mit dem Ragnarok vergangen der ich der ESA-Misson Rosetta, insbesondere Philae, gewidmet habe (Rotation 23, verdammt lang her).

Also fragte ich mich: was hat der kleine Lander auf dem Kometen erlebt, im Vorbeiflug um die Sonne und wieder zurück in das All. Was alleine schon total verrückt ist ... und so entstand der der Kometentanz mit Philae :)

Alle in diesem Stück verwendeten Klänge sind von mir von Grund auf erstellt worden oder "Tweaks" der Klänge von der Rotation 23.

Björn aka @Full-Bucket has done it again: a new synthesizer. This time, a further development of Ragnarok into Ragnarok2. Ragnarok 2 has been "upgraded" in many ways and is still as interesting as the "old" Ragnarok:

- simulates a unique, self-built synthesizer from 1980,
- easy to use, interesting sounds are created quickly,
- the synth's sound is great, from simple to (very) dirty sounds,
- it's low on CPU power.

After a long time, I finally took some time this month to create a track with the synthesizer for the KVR One Synth Challenge (yes, that's right: only this synthesizer is allowed for all sounds).
10 years have passed since the last track with the Ragnarok that i dedicated to the ESA Rosetta mission, specifically Philae (Rotation 23, a long time ago).

So I asked myself: what did the little lander experience on the comet, flying past the sun and back into space? Which is totally crazy in itself... and that's how the "Kometentanz mit Philae" (comet dance with Philae) came about :)

All the sounds used in this track were created by me from scratch or are tweaks of the sounds from Rotation 23.

Trance or achieving a Trance-like state is a spiritual experience. It can take to an experience of reality that is beyond normal every day thinking. Nature has designed us well, we are beings of light as much as the stars in the heavens, we are made in the image of the divine cosmic universe to which we are linked. Trance can take us back home, back to the stars, while still being on the Earth. All we need is the music, let your body and mind go and let the music take you home. 

 SINGLE - HERE I STAND-

The "Here I Stand" single is an expression of the deepest aspects of myself. The raw places in my soul that I have travelled to over the last years of my life. The places I felt I needed to let go and the places I needed to stand firm and resist the temptation to capitulate to a way of being that didn't honour my true self. The Goddess Ishtar journeyed to hell and back to save her lover and in the process she had to shed seven veils or layers of her personality (hence the dance of the seven veils) Its not really about being physically naked, thats easy, but getting emotionally naked.

The moment I heard the opening few bars of Gary Numan’s “Are Friends Electric” my life changed. It was like a doorway opened into a new reality for me. An alien landscape that I felt oddly at home in. Music featured strongly in my childhood growing up as the younger brother of one of the founding fathers of punk rock in Australia. I began my musical life with intensity and have never really looked back. But from that moment back in 1979 synthesisers and electronic music have been an integral part of my musical expression. Along the way I have played in a couple of synth bands, studied classical piano, cello and recorder including a stint in the local symphony orchestra. Far and away the most creative thing I have done in my life is to become a parent. Its the agony and ecstasy of this that has I believe led to “In This Mode”. At any one time I operate in a different mode or role all of which are aspects of who I am but none of them completely defining me and so all the while I am a parent living through the roller-coaster ride of emotions that can involve another part of me is creating musical ideas.

Musical influences are probably to numerous to mention but heres some of it, some of the giants  of electronic music, Gary Numan, John Foxx, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Visage, Human League, Tangerine Dream leading into The Shaman, The KLF, Front 242,  Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins,  Sisters of Mercy, Orbital, Dead Can Dance and more recently Assemblage 23, VNV nation, and Royksopp just to name a few. Along the way lots of classical music found its way in there and a bit of Jazz as well. The list really is to long to list so I won’t but my thanks to any one who has ever provided musical inspiration. In This Mode is a reincarnation of a once dormant aspect of my  creative self using synthesisers and technology to create electronic dance, synth pop, downtempo and ambient music to put into form what has been formless for sometime.
