The independent label The Sound of Art to Come launches Lil Obeah's debut album called Lil Obeah from Transylvania. The album is made in collaboration with international producers Transglobal Underground, Dub Colossus, and Marius Costache. For dub music enthusiasts and vinyl collectors, we have a limited edition of 200 copies that can be ordered until January 15, 2022, from Diggers Factory.

Transylvanian artist Lil Obeah launches his first electronic dub music album, a true sound collage contributed by music professionals: from Bucharest producer Marius Costache from Studio148 to international stars such as Nick Dubulah known as Dub Colossus and Tim Whelan and Hamid Mantu meaning Transglobal Underground.

On the album, Lil Obeah from Transylvania, artists, and musicians from Great Britain and Romania contributed: Horseman aka Winston Williams, Nick Page aka Count Dubulah, Hamid Mantu & Tim Whelan, the main duo from the Transglobal Underground collective, Marian Șerban Fieraru from the Corina Sîrghi Taraf, Adi Stoenescu and Laura Benedek from Jam Circle, Leon Lotoțchi, Michael Acker and Mihai Moldoveanu and last, but not least the artist Cristiana Bucureci, who created all art and collages.

The concept of the album is developed around dub music, reggae influences from classic horror movies but also Romanian folklore and folk produced and promoted before ’89 by Electrecord. On the album, the foundation is represented by Horseman's slow dub rhythms to which they added electric bass, keyboards, guitars, and sounds Nick Page (Dub Colossus), Tim Whelan, and Hamid Mantu (Transglobal Underground), responsible for the production of seven of the songs from the album. On the song Haos, produced by Marius Costache (Studio148), Laura Benedek performs electric bass, Adi Stoenescu keyboards. Maria Șerban Fieraru brought the folk sound through the drum songs and solos and Leon Lotoțchi performed at Theremin. The two bonus tracks contain electric bass by Michael Acker and Mihai Moldoveanu, but also the voice of the artist's grandmother Constanța Vlad.

The EROS album has been released at the indie label The Sound of Art to Come label from Bucharest, Romania, on which Cristiana Bucureci is a co-founder. She collaborated with great artists and musicians from Great Britain and Romania: Horseman aka Winston Williams on drums and percussion, Hamid Mantu & Tim Whelan, the main duo from the Transglobal Underground collective, on production and sounds, Marian Șerban on Santur, Leon Lotoțchi on Theremin, Prince Fatty on production with his crew of session musicians, and Marius Costache from Studio148 and Lil Obeah of the Sound of Art to Come on production and sounds.

Cristiana Bucureci pulls off a one-of-a-kind feat, making her indie dancefloor musical debut and continuing her collage artist career with a unique direction and concept around the juxtaposition between mythology, fashion, and sound therapy.

In Cristiana’s Universe musicians Nouvelle Vague and Solange are juxtaposed with collage artists Hannah Höch and Linder Sterling. The artist explores the nuanced borders of Pop Art and Pop Culture with her own vision. Cristiana has been an Art Director and visual artist for all of the label's releases, with over 20 main covers for EP’s, LP’s, and singles.

The concept of the album is developed around collage and dub music, Lovers Rock/ Nü-Dub, a sound with Caribbean influences, but retaining a Pan-European sonic palette and vision.

To talk about the influence of Rodion Roșca aka Rodion G.A. on Romanian electronic music is a paradox.

Because Rodion was a pioneer and pioneered many sound experiments and at the same time gave up making music, he was forgotten and rediscovered - as The Guardian called him a few years ago: Ceaușescu's Lost Superstar.

Also for the first time in Romania and Transylvania, Rodion changed over 30 drummers and even if live Rodion G.A. was an electronic rock band, the recordings that can be heard on the Rodion GA albums are worked by the artist/producer alone in his home studio with his Tesla tapes. He overdubbed all the instruments and added effects until he was satisfied. Well versed in physics, chemistry and biology, an engineer by trade, Rodion also believed in magic and the supernatural. This helped him to think about his compositions on a macro level, with a surgical attention to detail, but also with a lot of instinct and passion. 

He released four albums and was preparing the fifth when he lost his battle with cancer. His daughter Isabella is trying to make the Rodion Museum in his house in Așchileu.

Obeah Bucureci's live set is dedicated to Rodion's versatility and features electronic, rock, ballads and compositions for film soundtracks. 

„I also added some of my artistic mentor's favorite pieces. I have not ignored his original collaborations made with artists such as Mark Stewart from The Pop Group in Bristol, with Steaua de Mare, with Janin and his band Uniforma and with my band Crowd Control, with whom we also performed live in Bucharest and Cluj.

I end the set with the legacy I feel he left me and some of my experimental electronic compositions and remixes released/ unreleased on my record label, Sound of Art to Come. Obeah is a project that a month before he died, Rodion gave me his blessing and what's more, he wanted to remix two of my songs released with the late Nick Page aka Dub Colossus.
