If you've been with us for the first two episodes, you're probably starting to get an idea of what this mix series is all about. For all you first timers, 'Styles' is new mix series curated by the GRA.audio crew and aimed at showcasing unique styles and subgenres nestled amongst the broad landscape of electronic dance music. On this episode, we've got a blistering 32 minute mix of Glitch-Hop selections brought to you by GRA founding member TwoThrows. [ @twothrows ]

"Glitch-Hop is a subgenre of electronic music that typically ranges from 90-110 (aka Midtempo) and usually utilizes a breakbeat pattern. Generally, Glitch-Hop blends hip-hop rhythms with "glitch" music techniques, characterized by its use of distorted sounds, chopped samples, and stuttering rhythms, often with a focus on creative sound design and experimentation. Dating back to the late 1990s, electronic music artists and producers such as Machinedrum, Prefuse 73, and Push Button Object began to combine 'glitch' elements with instrumental hip-hop beats giving the subgenre its original sound."

Hello again! Welcome back to our synodically recurring mix series 'Styles'; a mix series aimed at showcasing unique styles and subgenres nestled amongst the broad landscape of electronic dance music. Digging deep into the depths of electronic dance music, we find ourselves at the common denominator of "low and slow." With our sixth episode, we will be delving into the depths of the subgenre know as Leftfield 140, courtesy of G.R.A. resident DJ, Symtek.

"Leftfield 140 is a style that refers quite literally to it's own name. In essence, it is a style of music that resides at 140 BPM, but strays from the more typical dubstep style that has dominated the tempo for the last 2 decades. With a contemporary rebirth in the early 2020's, Leftfield 140 tends to include a wide variety of influences from across the musical spectrum. ["Over the last few years, 140 has become a broad term that represents more than just dubstep. It stands for an entire culture of bass music influenced by dubstep, grime, and trap. Happy Autumn and welcome back to our recurring mix series 'Styles'; a sonic journey aimed at showcasing unique styles and subgenres nestled amongst the broad landscape of electronic dance music. For this, our ninth episode, we are excited to share with you a fresh new mix from GRA co-founder and resident DJ, TwoThrows, as he explores a burgeoning new subgenre, Bassline Dubstep.

"Bassline Dubstep is a style that draws heavy inspiration from the old school and fuses it with copious aspects of more contemporary electronic dance genres. This style, often hovering around 140 bpm, is typically characterized by its utilization of slower halftime dubstep drum patterns along with faster feeling double-time hi hat and percussion rhythms, producing its distinguishing sound. With an emphasis on leading basslines and heavy vocal sample usage, Bassline Dubstep will often draw inspiration from adjacent styles such as 2-Step, Grime and Drill just to name a few. The genre has made waves in the mid 2020s as producers such as Hamdi, Sammy Virji and Cesco among others have honed in on the swingy, swanky vibes that this style conjures up."
