A really exciting moment for us to release our new project at Introspection. We decided to do a cover called Aashayein (from the movie 'Iqbal') which is an inspiring song that talks about hope and chasing your dreams.

The story of Introspection is also of chasing unfulfilled dreams. We formed our band in 1995 in Jaipur, but it was short lived as within just a couple of years we all parted in pursuit of our careers and education. After almost 16 years, Ashu and I got back together and decided to do some compositions to re-live those old moments and keep our creative spirit alive.

After a long wait and spending countless hours / weekends, finally we've decided to release our new track. This is an experimental song and pretty different from the usual rock / ballads we do.

The whole idea to do this project stemmed from Ashu's desire to do a peppy number. We tried to stitch some random lyrics to a basic chord progression but it pretty much seemed like we were heading for a disaster. Then Ashu suggested that we make a Sufi number, so we started searching for some Sufi lyrics but nothing seemed to fit the mood of the song we wanted to create.

Finally, our search ended with some beautiful lyrics written by a popular Naat (Holy Poetry) reciter by the name Mr. Farhan Ali Qadri in Pakistan. Following this, we started working tirelessly on this song experimenting with different ethnic instruments and sounds. Ashu as usual has done a tremendous job on the instrumentation, arrangement and sequencing. He has worked tirelessly creating and arranging the instrumental tracks. He has this amazing ability to put flesh and skin to a skeleton and bring it to life.

I have sung the vocals and have played the guitars.

Our sincere credits go to our dear friend Inger who has spent hours listening to our track and has given his valuable inputs in terms of how to master the track, how to add variations to rhythm to break monotoniocity. Without his guidance, we wouldn't have achieved the desired output.
