'The title of the newest release of FOR. suggests that our contemporary collective fantasies are trapped in an imaginary vacuum space, or closed-circuit in which the possibility of any alternative looks immeasurably distant. In that sense, the raised fist of a disembodied protagonist by Vera Romhány on the cover of the mini-album is an unequivocal call for a unified protest against the void of our futureless present. But the recent EP of Ábris Gryllus and Miklós Farkas is not only a symbolic gesture of such agitation but also a comprehensive summary of their long-term music collaboration. Ever since their early releases, FOR. functions as a FORum of their shared interests in techno-dystopian sonic worlds and brutalist sci-fi visions evoking various technologically advanced, machine-dominated future scenarios that, by the time, increasingly resemble our contemporary reality. 

The carefully designed sound effects of the new tracks, often inducing sharp noises of some nanotech devices or dismantled futuristic weapons, are almost always counterpointed with harsher sound textures, bold basses, and asymmetric rhythm structures. Accordingly, the recent EP Vacuum also aims to embrace various topics, such as politically engaged movements and militant aesthetics, monotonous labor and dehumanization, neo-industrial corporations, and virtual frontiers of future geographies that have yet to be drawn.'

This is a public service announcement. Mr. Mitch’s (@mrmitchmusic) @Gobstopper-Records is back with a tremendous three-tracker from Leeds lad @BFTT.

Titled ‘Versioning’, the EP follows up releases on Whities, All Centre and Cong Burn and feels like a sort of harmonious link-up between BFTT’s precision-cut techno signature and the label’s love for synth-heavy, carefully constructed bass material that veers between sweetboy and screwface territory. By that we mean, it's yes from us.

“Gobstopper is a label I've followed and loved for a long time,” explained BFTT via Twitter. “So it's literally a dream come true.”

The ‘Versioning’ EP drops on August 7 via Gobstopper Records. Pre-order below and check out EP track ‘I’, below:

On ACEN010 Sydney based producer Hence Therefore steps out from releasing on his own 3BS imprint to deliver a two track single on All Centre.

A side ‘Waste Frontier’ utilises elastic percussion and torn samples drenched in his signature atmospheric reverbs as it Gradually building from a handful of carefully placed elements into a spacious dance floor excursion. The body of the track melodies and kick drum patterns against each other eventually giving way to an emotive lead melody supported by driving drums.

B side ‘Census Map Museum’ axis's around a chromatic melody which bobs around the stereo field as the frenetic percussion builds around it. As the track presses on supporting melodies grow from the main motif creating a web ear worms that carefully jostle amongst one another.

Waste Frontier is available across all platforms from the 18th of October.

Electroménager’s very first transmission sees the day, with a solo EP entitled 800mg from Manchester based Thodén, including a remix by Perko.

Taking inspiration from the uk’s unique bass and techno scene, Thodén delivers 4 carefully crafted tracks that explore sophisticated rhythms and dark heavy percussion, all pulled together by dreamy breakdowns to conduct those essential moments of euphoria on the dance floor. To finish it off; Numbers affiliate, Perko, produces his own take on ‘Specialist’, which results in nothing other than a dubby masterpiece driven by a charging kick.

This sweet cacophany of sounds was hypnotising, a heady tonic that sent her back into a deep sleep before she even noticed... 

French label POLAAR welcome DJ and producer Esther back to the label for the second time this year with Pantome. Like its namesake (a made up word that merges Pantone & Fantom) the four tracks urge you to taste the words and feel the colours and sounds, and exhibit her love for written and speaking languages which she strives to translate into music. Like her previous releases on POLAAR and Doum Music, her knack for playing with texture and rhythm comes through on every track, proving her ability to craft her own strain of unconventional and singular club music.
