There is a quiet optimism running through Umarga’s SEEKK EP, even as the drums stay scuffed and the bass keeps its teeth. The title track rides clipped electro percussion and a low, rubbery line, but the synths open like a window, letting in a little dawn air. This mixture of classic vibes and electro's unique vision for the future mark this record out as something a little special.

Capacity tightens the groove into something more skeletal and direct, a drum tool that hums with feeling around the edges. Snappy Snaps finds swagger in negative space, all dry hits and a bass line that wouldn't feel out of place on a Larry Heard record. This track nudges the floor forward without shouting but also without rest. 5loWs is the thick and textured slowdown, the afterglow, chords blooming over a steady pulse that feels almost idm.

Across four cuts, Umarga keeps the pressure high and the arrangement subtle, but never loses sight of small human details. It is dirty, yes, but the dirt catches the light to complete the texture. Out October 24, 2025 on Circuit Grooves.

@partnermusic is a project from the son of a classic Disco DJ. Raised on the best of popular and underground dance music of the 70's and 80's, he has created an outlet to pay homage to the hooks and loops from world sounds and pairing to the current culture of club music. Commonly known as sampling, however searching more for the nostalgic or emotive tip that digs deeper than just the "duff-duff" beat.  

Since jumping ship from Brighton to London, the last year has seen development within the music scene most notably with club heavyweights Percolate alongside various other residencies. Efforts with edits has seen support from artists such as Mount Kimbie, YAM Records, Dan Shake, San Proper and Percolate Residents Krywald and Farrer. 

A debut festival appearance is on the horizon at Dimensions in Croatia plus a series of releases with edits and originals already gaining great exposure within the underground dance scene.

"Paattu Enge" is one of a handful of "Tamil" movie based sample edits cleverly put together taking full advantage of the bustling Bhangra rhythms accompanied with the driving synth bass and plunging piano chords. The vocal brings the added "Ear worm" to the track and completes the exotic energy which proves infectious as a potential dance floor classic.

Released earlier this year Transistorcake's 'Cocktail EP' was a booze themed synth odyssey through a night from warm-up drinks to post-party melancholy, now the EP gets its own digestif in the form of re-edits from NY Born, Berlin based DJ & producer Curses. https://soundcloud.com/cursesforever https://soundcloud.com/transistorcake 

First to go into the tumbler is 'Grenadine', to which Curses makes a few changes to the ingredients placing more of an emphasis on the slow and steady beat and the electric bass, leaving the low slung acidic melody as more of a cherry garnish on top of the track.

"There is such a strong element of improvisational chemistry in these songs, and I wanted to keep that hypnotic energy, and respect the live instrumentation," explains Curses. "Just by adding some subtle details and arrangement changes it really accentuates the warmth in the body, and gives these tracks some added heavy jelly when played on a louder system."
