Ende Juli 2023 - auf dem Acker des Nation of Gondwana Festivals - haben wir ab Mitternacht des zweiten Festivaltags den "Bei Birke" Floor übernommen und zu dritt die musikalische Reise in den frühen Morgen gestaltet. Vor uns ging es sehr schnell zu und um die Tanzenden in ihrem Beat weitergrooven zu lassen, stiegen wir hier ein und fuhren das Tempo langsam runter - in ein wunderschönes Morgengrauen. Dort angekommen, breiteten wir euch einen sehr groovigen Klangteppich aus, voller kleiner Details und mit viel Platz zum Verlustiggehen. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir - Erika, Mareena und Resom - euch dorthin begleiten konnten. Viel Spass beim Nachhören!  Danke Team "Bei Birke" und überhaupt an die "Nation of Gondwana" für den praktischen Einblick in eine gelebte Utopie.

At the end of July 2023, on the field of the Nation of Gondwana Festival – in the middle of the night of the second day, we were allowed to take over the musical design of the "Bei Birke" floor and start a journey into the morning with those present. Before we took over it was quite fast, so to let the dancers groove on in their beat, we stepped in and slowly brought down the tempo, into a beautiful dawn. Once there, we spread you a very groovy sound carpet, full of small details and with so much space to get lost. We are very happy that we - Erika, Mareena and Resom - could accompany you there. Milan based duo Simone Baratta and Nicolò Chenet are the force behind mysterious DJ outfit Orion. Alongside their principal cognomen, active since 2018, they’ve also banded together with Giegling’s Ateq as Pale Product for further excursions into their sonic universe. As a pair they’ve been largely flying under the radar, but perhaps not for long, their all too danceable sound is a deep, persistent fusion of influences destined for the club (take their residency at Milanese haunt Vitamina for instance). You could add their eponymous label to that too, where a growing number of ‘slow-release’ records attest to their predilection for quality over quantity. Bassiani Podcast 185 is their live set recorded at Horoom mid-September: think intimate and smoke-filled afterhours gatherings and pure camaraderie among a close-knit group of ravers. A high spirited trip across the dancefloor from saturated and dubby ambient to Detroit inclinations, courtesy of this budding techno pairing.

Joining us this month is one of the most consistent producers around at the moment. In the past six years Alex has been releasing exciting material through local Stockholm labels such as Abdulla Rashim's Northern Electronics, Bossmuik, and Aniara Records which put out his first record back in 2010. Aniara Records is also responsible for putting out the majority of his output as one half of Genius Of Time, the irresistible DJ/Live act he formed with his good friend Nils Krogh but the duo's punchy releases also found a home on Clone's Royal Oak and Gerd Janson's Running Back. The past two years have seen him focusing primarily on his solo output as Dorisburg and his most ambitious project to date arrived earlier this year on John Talobot's Hivern Discs in the form of the Irrbloss LP.

Today he's prepared a very special mix of mysterious and rare hypnotic House cuts which he recorded straight to cassette through a studio console and analogue outboard. He told us the mix is for "late night internet exploring...something to get lost within while browsing the unknown corners of the web... or possibly what a rave could sound like on an abandoned space station".
