Seven years after their inaugural release, Bristol-based imprint Off-Switch Audio line up their sophomore long-player ‘Imago' from local producer Nuboid...Today, we are pleased to premiere ‘Ode2TS‘. From the start it gives off the thrills of a dystopian soundscape soon to be accompanied by an arsenal of tenebrous microseismic arpeggios, distorted drum rhythms and a pandemonium of fearful whispers. This is a psyched-out chugger intended for EBM zealots mingling with sluggish-sounding dithermongers.

Z i g Z o y d - a vital shapeshifting ecosystem; bursting its splashes of electric lava into Isla to Isla world of sounds. We are dearly welcoming Exoternal with her sonic micro world and proudly releasing this hot 5-tracker.

Taking a significant turn from her previous release, the new EP - Z i g Z o y d - greets you as a fierce and friendly audio beast. It’s an adventurous twist of IDM and groovy tribalism, which results in purely synthetic music suitable for more sophisticated dancefloors as well as pleasurable home listening.

“Nahum” is a banging opener, an intense yet extremely curious piece. Heavy kicks surrounded by percussive triplets allow you to braindance and massage your body with low frequencies. “Adroit Am I” is kind of a joyful ballad of those synthetic screeching voices, whose nature is still to be discovered by future generations of sonic explorers. “Trapezoid Conundrum” - the first single of the EP is a repetitive piece, like a trapezoidal machinery working its existence. “Bestia” is the most 4-to-the-floor oriented track. Filled with breathing synths and strong kicks, it (again) welcomes you to a peak time weirdo dancefloor. “Espionage” is probably the darkest piece of this 5-tracker. Screeching synths and a slow rhythm bid you farewell out of this sonic journey, leaving some kind of a hook inside.

That said, Z i g Z o y d is an exciting piece of contemporary electronic music.

Anatolian Weapons, the alias of Aggelos Baltas, stands at the forefront of Greek electronic music. The release 'Beyond' is intentionally crafted for the dancefloor, featuring a collection of obscure techno tracks with a few unexpected twists.

Following the release of Aggelos Baltas’ long-awaited second album under the alias Anatolian Weapons last autumn, he is now back with a collection of obscure dancefloor cuts. In his characteristic manner, Baltas weaves hypnotic melodies with driving beats, transporting dancers beyond thought and rationality into a liminal space outside themselves.

Dalmata Daniel label continues its lathe cut series with the release of four consecutive episodes, welcoming back Betonkust from the Netherlands on the first 7-inch. These tracks revisit the raw analog sound reminiscent of his previous releases on the label, an instantly recognizable trademark of his sound from the first listen. 

The single kicks off with "Bill And His Cat," a cute and playful electro track, followed by the lullaby-esque synthwave masterpiece "Second Rerun." In addition to these, the physical release includes a bonus track previously released digitally on one of the label's fundraiser compilations.

Time Theft

Squidbrain lands on W133, spicing up your summer break with some breaky tunes! The Berlin via Philly artist presents 4 originals on his digital EP entitled "Time Theft".

Kicking off the EP is "Zweimal Vierundsiebzig", a bouncy, slightly spooky roller that turns into a ravy weapon. Fun fact: The track got its name from Squidbrain's usual; 2 orders of number 74 at a Vietnamese takeaway restaurant.

Next, the EP's title track "Time Theft" comes in, a grimy track with nasty vocal samples, thick bass and swirling drones.

The third track, "Dram", is a tension-building, shifting and angular bass tune that plays with loads of crazy sounds twirling around your head.

Last but not least, we have "Levo", which starts off with distorted guitar-like sounds and dissonant mystical melodies. As the track develops, it gets heavier and builds energy before bursting open with striking melodies and chopped-up vocals.

The artwork photography is by Philipp Roth, and the EP is released on all digital platforms on 9th August 2024.
