Bytes are super excited to announce the reissue of the killer 1990s electro EPs by SEM (aka Damon Baxter, who would go on to record as Deadly Avenger). The original 12”s have been out of print since they were released on J Saul Kane’s Electron Industries imprint in 1995 (Phox EP) and 1996 (The Demon EP). They have never been available digitally. With the original masters M.I.A., the tracks have been lovingly remastered from vinyl by Keith Tenniswood, who as part of Two Lone Swordsmen (alongside the late Andrew Weatherall), knows a thing or two about producing top-notch electro music. Saeko Killy, Jamie Paton, Andrei Rusu and Anastasia Zems remix "Kraus is the Limit" by the Zurich electronic-wave duo Dâdalus & Bikarus and take the original to new dimensions.

"Kraus is the Limit (Remixes)” preserves the raw energy and emotion of Dâdalus & Bikarus' live performances while introducing new textures. It is not merely a collection of remixes but an intimate experience that invites listeners to rediscover the original tracks through the lenses of Saeko Killy, Jamie Paton, Andrei Rusu and Anastasia Zems.

Saeko Killy translates Voran into a mesmerizingly timeless journey that is even more kraut-y and space-y. Jamie Paton brings his distinctive style to the table by adding laidback and dubby vibes to Gone and Youri Gagarine. Andrei Rusu strippes down Tous Tes Mensonges, creating a sonic whirlwind that takes the listener on an thrilling and hypnotic ride. Anastasia Zems' take on Voran lets us wallow in the depths of an acid abyss. A tripped-out experience is guaranteed.

Melómana opens the year with a compilation that brings together producers who have marked and defined the musical orientation of the label. Its reference 039 is not only a testimony of long-term work, it is also the announcement of what is to come this year 2024.

The compilation brings together songs by artists such as Panka Panka, Azaria, Yahaira, JGR, Jackwasfaster, Ludviq, Nick Hanzo, Macaulay, Mijo, Pastor in Vegas, Rubinskee, Ademarr, Joseeph. Established talents on the scene, as well as emerging projects, offering an approach as designed for the track as it is for home listening.

Altogether, we find fused rhythms and rich soundscapes that lead us to an exploration as fluid as it is captivating. The album offers us a dynamic contrast that shows the versatility of a timeless project, created from talent, meticulousness and sonic coherence.The level of production of these guys is intense but, on the other hand, the care of the sounds they release is at the level of those who do things because they want and with the time they really need. The tracks have strength and jump over the prevailing conventions, knowing how to avoid the most recurrent rawness and darkness, seeking dance
but without predictable tricks and without exceeding an understandable level of experimentation suitable for the dance floor.

We could say that each producer summarizes their intentions in this compilation, seeking novelty without losing nostalgia, that they play with the genre but without falling into predictable tricks, nor into the arrogance of those who get wrapped up in a genre or mannerism to demonstrate that They have personality. And this is just the beginning, because this year Melómana is going to bring us many surprises.

A year after releasing the “So Sprach Psychedelia” Remixes EP, brilliantly reworked by Rodion, Skelesys and Rambal Cochet, Thisbe Recordings´ Pyrame releases a second sequel of remixes from his EP “Electronica Melancholia”.

On board - and on target - to remix the title track “Electronica Melancholia”, two usual suspects of Thisbe: Volta Cab (“Alphabet of Humanity” (THISBE009), “Oseary Drakoulias” (THISBELTDX001)) and Philip Lawns (“Ten Years of Travel” (THISBE004)). Joining them for the occasion, a recent artist on the label, A-Tweed, who is half of Oblako Maranta, his collab with Radial Gaze and who recently released “Trance Beckenbauer” (THISBE015).

The Electronica Melancholia Remixes EP starts off straight into A-Tweed´s magic of producing that trademark acid weird disco sound that conveys such a special groove on the dancefloor - and beyond. Remixing the original track into something somehow progressive as well, the Rome-based artist nails another classic of the label´s catalogue. His kick is firm, his percussions even firmer. Yet, A-Tweed manages to keep some of the softness from the original melodies layered over a captivating bassline. A fine work all around.

Next on the Tracklisting is Philip Lawns, who revisited “Electronica Melancholia” from his very intimate lens, taking the listener on a journey into his own mind. Those ambient sounds from within that the Italian artist manages to subtly reproduce in his music, in perfect symbiose with Pyrame´s original arpeggios. The flow is deep and at the same time, dirty like a dusty turntable jumping at every turn. His remix is a portray, where distant voices echo over a phone ringing, hoping from someone to pick up. The music can´t stop, the call remains unanswered.

Third - but not least - the Krasnodar-based über-productive Volta Cab sets once again some serious standards in the post-punk genre, crafting from the very first kick on a mesmerizing mix of EBM and dark electro overlaid by an intense and irresistible infusion of synths on acid. All that in a less-than-4 minutes remix. Powerful.

Cherry on the cake: A-Tweed treats us with an Acid Dub version of his remix. An almost 12 minutes long mix, cruising a 79bpm, to ensure an immersive experience into “la mélancholie électronique” up to the very end of the Remixes EP. Gold.

'T/ERROR | DATA SURFER' is the latest EP from New Interplanetary Melodies (NIM), a collaboration between Simona Faraone’s NIM label and the collective Kuro Jam, led by Gianluca Pernafelli. The EP features Rome producer T/ERROR creating a musical version of a new comic strip titled “DATA SURFER.” The narrative explores the consequences of a special mixer falling into the hands of an angry suburban hoodlum immersed in electronic music. The EP unfolds in a vivid picture of “pain, passion, and redemption across Rome and Berlin” with T/ERROR’s sound-narrative journey reflecting electro-acid tones, dark mechanical sounds, and liquid electro.

Extended bio: 
Physicist turned music and film Producer, Lausanne-born/Berlin-based Pyrame’s emergence into the electronic music scene is a story of wanderlust, dream catching and cosmic energy. A poet at heart, he takes the opportunity to create raw emotion through both his melodies and lyrics, when if you listen closely, are inspired by his endless adventures of the world around him. Combining elements of synth-pop, post-disco and progressive electronica, his DJ affair of building both his sound and his record label contains a touch of surrealism, heritage and fantasy, as his inspiration is pulled from the twists and turns of Greek Mythology. 

 

His label, appropriately named Thisbe Recordings, comes from the myth of “Pyramus and Thisbe” which are mostwell known as the couple of ill-fated lovers by the ancient poet Ovid. Thisbe is an amphitheater where the voices of house and techno are being heard. Founded in 2020, it has gathered pace over the last couple of years, with releases from Radial Gaze, Semodi, Philip Lawns, as well as the first compilation of the label, called Black Ink, featuring tracks by Acid Washed & Arnaud Rebotini, Seb El Zin, Commando Variété, Rambal Cochet, Mount Kismet and Danton Eeprom. 

 

After releasing his debut EP "A Fine Life" in 2019 and his second EP "The Pace of Everything that Lives" in 2020.  Pyrame released his third EP "Electronica Melancholia" in Fall 2022, dedicated to his newly-born son, a brand new source of inspiration, he says. Followed then a Remixes EP of his track "So Sprach Psychedelia" by high-profile electronic musicians Rodion, Skelesys and Rambal Cochet. 

In September 2023, Pyrame released "Senses High" , a 2-track EP featuring remixes by Andrew Claristidge, La Mverte, Theus Mago and 
Semodi.

In 2024, Pyrame will reveals several collaborations with artists he has been working with for a while.
