Rushing us headlong into a vorticist maelstrom of hard-edged drum stutter and polychromatic synth fragmentation, Sansibar sophomore long-player for Kalahari Oyster Cult - “Sans Musique” - tackles the very essence of post-trancey, breaks-loaded UK blends with unabashed joy to wreak havoc on his path. Throughout seven tracks oozing burnt kerosene and depleted uranium residue merged with a hint of sacred incense, Sansibar deploys his extra-wide vision for the present and future of dance music.

“Scully” attacks pedal to the metal, hi-intensity bass onslaughts and knee-buckling breaks roaring as the groove slings us at bullet-speed into a hot, narrow barrel of floor-focused aggression. 

Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Sansibar is a non-pareil cosmic traveller - also producer, resident DJ at Kaiku and Post Bar and wave agitator on IDA Radio and EOS Radio - whose genre-unbound sound credentials for the likes of Kalahari Oyster Cult, Natural Sciences, Émotsiya, Darknet, Avoidance et al. have helped establish as one of today’s most intriguing talents in the European scene.

Sansibar - Scully (Earth People Mix) [DV Premiere]

Oddball bass and rubbery microhouse abound in this offering of sounds crafted by UK producer and Third Place Records founder Will Hofbauer. Funky and freaky through and through, Club Quirks  threads the needle of pinpoint percussion, elastic leads, pitch-bent plucks, plonks, and wonky basslines. Bouncy electro rhythms offset a 4x4 minimal pulse, while ear-tickling textures shimmer in kaleidoscopic hi-fi. Highly tipped for those seeking a playful touch, Club Quirks is brimming with sonic delights.

Planet Euphorique continues to transcend boundaries and expectations with its lucky eighth release “Dream Portal”, a 4-track EP by Ronan.

The three tracks, plus a bonus remix from elusive, tech-wiz Reptant, were recorded over a two week period in Bogota, Colombia. Conjuring up vivid spectacles of a mysterious labyrinth; bodies unleashed and moving in unison. 

The title track, Dream Portal, unlocks the gateway via a dank, sway-worthy roller, equally menacing and eclipsing, paving the way for the A2 “Crystal Viewer" where propelling snares layer across delicate harmonic tension and spatial delay. Springing sub bass filling the low ends to complete the fusion of trance-licked breakbeat and ethereal techno. 

On the flip the situation continues to rise, Star Fissure delving into high-octane enlightened electro. Slick rolls and percussive fills make this a daring DJ’s dream. Kicks that feel like you’re being punched in the face, yet begging for more. Deep and driving, with delicate pads to take you into that elevated state. Meanwhile, the Reptant remix rolls up and lets you know it’s arrived. Attitude on tap, delivering lizard-tech to be teamed with a smoke machine on overdrive. Dripping bleeps and razored hi-hats to accentuate the originals’ naughty flair. 

“Dream Portal”; a glimpse into the subconscious vision of a raver’s fantasy. Four tracks ready and roaring for different moments in the club, home or a celestial outdoor get together.

Thick white snow pelted down from above; the path in front of them was barely visible now the sun had set. It was a long walk back through the forest and the group had grown tired after fighting through the wind and the hail. Winter had arrived and it wasn't taking any prisoners. As they reached the depths of the forest they soon realised the snow had covered their tracks; their Hansel and Gretel breadcrumbs were no more. How would they find their way back to base? They would have to take a punt and follow their gut instead...

Following his euphoric debut release on Feel My Bicep, James Shinra brings his skilled productions to one of Scotland's best exporters of electro, Craigie Knowes. Over the last few years Mitch and Max, the guys behind the label, have released heavy hitters from some of the finest artists operating in that sphere, like Carl Finlow, Jensen Interceptor, Maelstrom and Textasy. James Shinra adds to that healthy discography with some acid driven cuts that have a "sinister, wintery feel"...
