This ambient album immerses the listener in a calm, expansive soundscape shaped by deep drones and soft, emotionally resonant pads. Slowly evolving layers drift through a quiet atmosphere where time feels suspended, allowing space for reflection, stillness and inner presence. The absence of rhythm and percussion gives each composition room to breathe, unfolding with a fragile sense of intimacy and depth.

Between gentle shadows and faint light, the sound shifts from darker, enveloping tones to brighter, almost weightless passages. A wandering poet and ascetic Zen priest, Santōka was a disciple of Ogiwara Seisensui, one of the first poets to discard the traditional use of the 5-7-5 structure in haiku.
Santōka’s poetry emphasizes the necessity of sabi (solitude) in order to achieve spiritual enlightenment and serenity.

As the collaborative project of Alex Kassian and Oba Hiroaki, Opal Sunn has had a stellar year behind them. Following the release of their 2018 EP on Touch From A Distance, the duo took their heavy machine fueled live show across the world, including Tokyo, Valencia, Ho-Chi-Minh-City, Hanoi, Fusion Festival, Field Maneuvers and last but not least: Panorama Bar in Berlin, where they performed twice in 2019 as part of the Touch From A Distance label nights. Starting 2020 on a high note, the duo return to Nick Höppner's record label with another foursome of their trademark sound design.
