Taking inspiration from the indigenous culture of the island of Taiwan and its ancient chants to summon the Ancestral spirits, ‘Entheos’ is a three-tracker where B E N N brings to life a club-convulsing blend of leftfield techno experiments and Taiwanese traditional sounds. 
For this work B E N N collaborated also with ‘Beat of Kaohsiung’, a collective from southern Taiwan, who contributed to the EP playing taiko, didgeridoo and vocals, to complement the hard drums and bass focussed productions of the producer from Taipei. 

Mystical vocals progressions opens ‘Shan-Yu’, a darker and more introspective track structured around a distorted koto melody supported by a didjeridoo bass continuum and incessant bit-crushed percussions.

All proceeds from sales of the compilation will go directly to two organisations in Beirut: Haven for Artists -who focus on supporting migrants, women and LGBTQI people- and Beit El Baraka. In the wake of the explosion on August 4th, which has compounded already-dire social and economic problems in the city, these two organisations are providing food and shelter and financial, medical and psychological assistance to those who need it most.

The compilation is a direct outcome of the open, collaborative audiovisual project XquisiteForce.AV that have been developing since March 2020 by SFX, and which is still ongoing as we speak.

Premiering "The Divine Maggot" by Ani Klang taken from the "Complex Contrast" compilation out on September 4 via Yin Yang.

Previously established as an event and podcast series based in Dublin, Yin Yang signifies its next step with a vibrant compilation of tracks which touch on dark undertones of techno right through to brighter mutations of DnB, hard-hitting jungle, futuristic electro and beyond. Supplied by flourishing talents across Ireland, UK, Europe, America and South-East Asia.

"Combining a stellar pool of sounds from across the spectrum of electronic music, Yin Yang marks a new beginning with the launch of its label and subsequent release of an exceptional 25 track various artist compilation. Complex Contrast is an amalgamation of distinct ideas, forming a cohesive soundscape to truly represent the label's essence."

When opposites attract and align into the cycles of primary chaos and energy, seeping into elements of movement, dance and music to result in a new state of unwavering balance, the compilation is a prime example.

‘Complex Contrast’ mirrors the vision of the imprint as a whole, bringing together a multitude of textures, tones and themes that collide and weave into one other for a visceral experience. A deluge of different soundscapes complete the V/A and every artist featured has brought an element of their own aesthetic to shape the direction of the label. Spiralling dark rhythms from Blue Hour, Gritty and unease mutation from Mutant Joe, cosmic melodies from SAAH, futuristic sounds from False Persona, D&B goodness from Ani Klang and Kessler, screwface techno from Rune Bagge and Offtrack and many more have come in strong to signify a resounding turning point in Yin Yang’s trajectory.

The compilation breathes in tandem with the listener and offers a slant in the shadows of what else is to come on Yin Yang’s schedule. Available in digital format, ‘Complex Contrast’ leaves a lasting impression with its interpretation of organised chaos, resulting in a perfect blend of kinetic and palpable energies to the end.
