DEATHWARDS formed in 2017, comprising veterans of the metal underground, and within five months had recorded their very first demo, Towards Death. As aptly titled as their moniker, DEATHWARDS' Towards Death is a timeless, trend-bucking slab of thrashing Metal of Death. Across the five furious-yet-finessed songs here, the band conjoin the primal essence of '80s Slayer, Slaughter Lord, Van Drunen-era Pestilence, and Voivod's early work, but tweak it with a more technical aspect ala Sindrome, Sadus, and Obliveon, etc. It's a classic-yet-fresh blend between influences and authentic ideas, instead of mere copycat-ism or rote rehashing of older, better ideas. Altogether, including a reverential cover of Infernal Majesty's "Overlord," DEATHWARDS' opening salvo is as furious as it is catchy, iron-clad in its approach yet bespeaking more development to come. 

And Towards Death is but the start: already, DEATHWARDS are preparing new material for their imminent debut album, also to be released by INVICTUS. Prepare to go Towards Death!

It was but October 2020 when INVICTUS released MALICIOUS' long-awaited debut album, Deranged Hexes. With both band moniker and album title aptly-fucking-named, MALICIOUS' Deranged Hexes completely upratcheted the band's foundational sound - a car crash of cobwebbed evil and gibbering intensity, ranging the likes of Necrovore, ‘80s Possessed, and especially Mike Browning-era Morbid Angel to the earliest (and best) works of Sarcofago and Sepultura - to an insanely OTT level. In every respect, the record was the penultimate in blackened Metal of Death, and it was duly hailed for its dangerously unhinged demeanor.

Three years may've passed since that recording, but MALICIOUS have only become more unhinged in the meantime. Witness the four-song Merciless Storm. Tauntingly titled once again, Merciless Storm picks up right where Deranged Hexes left off, but sees the Finns following a natural progression in all aspects. With a runtime of 11 minutes, it's mercilessly / mercifully short and sweet, upping the violence and aggression to levels impossibly beyond that nuclear-powered debut album. And yet, the songwriting remains stout and streamlined and perhaps minutely more detailed and even palatably "refined." If anything, Merciless Storm possesses a clearer soundfield, but that only amplifies the savagery to an insane degree, especially the '80s Slayer-style solos. Nothing else to say: this is a fucking Merciless Storm!

INVICTUS PRODUCTIONS in conspiracy with THE AJNA OFFENSIVE are proud to present the LONG-awaited fifth album of Sweden's UNPURE, Prophecies Ablaze.

Sweden's UNPURE are the very definition of a CULT band. Formed in that fateful year of 1991, the band spread their black-leather wings across three demos before the momentous release of their self-titled debut album in 1995. A quiet classic that built in stature over the years to come, UNPURE followed up the elevated primitivism of Unpure with three more albums over the next decade - a patience pace, yes, and a further refinement of their jet-black metal into something thrashier or at least more speed metalled but something truly UNPURE. No "party blackthrash" here: always, the iron fist of vocalist/bassist Kolgrim guided their muse into occult waters, tastefully and trend-free. However, those waters largely stayed dormant aside from infrequent gigs, following the release of 2004's World Collapse, with only a couple new songs arriving on a retrospective compilation...but the legend of UNPURE continue to grow with each successive generation.

Now, UNPURE are prepared to scale the throne that's rightfully theirs with their long-awaited comeback album, Prophecies Ablaze. Although both men have been in the lineup since 2011, UNPURE's fifth album marks the recorded arrival of two new guitarists, Watain's Pelle Forsberg and Degial's Hampus Eriksson, as well as erstwhile Degial drummer Emil Svensson (who joined the band in 2019), and their fire is immediately felt: Prophecies Ablaze is indeed aptly titled, for the intensity is sharp and seething and very much burning. A black/death conflagration as it were, UNPURE's attack is upratcheted to an enviable degree, very much sounding like the same band that stoked legions for the past three decades but one that more so sounds impossibly incensed and almost youthful. Credit that to a seamless melding of songwriting and execution, where the former races with both grandeur and grime while the latter exudes lawless abandon and stoic clarity alike, altogether displaying a muscular brand of black METAL that's as timeless as ever. And mention must be made of the production across Prophecies Ablaze: "razor-sharp" might be a meaningless cliche by now, but this recording's razors are deadly precise and absolutely bloody!

No other words needed: UNPURE have returned, and Prophecies Ablaze is every inch the record they needed to return with. With eyes to the sky and hearts inflamed, prepare for the benediction of classic Swedish darkness!

Arising from Vancouver’s potent extreme metal mire, REVERSED initially materialized in 2015 through a dedication to the SPIRIT of real DEATH METAL and a rabid OBSESSION with DEATH. Guided by more passion than execution, this collection of well-honed ghouls quickly fell into a sepulchral trance to channel a singular form of necrotic, razor-lined heavy metal devilry.  

Dying to crack open the tomb, REVERSED harnessed and released the Widow Recluse demo tape into the wild in 2018 via Muerto En La Cruz and the recently closed Temple of Mystery. Showcasing the band’s gestating lunacy, the demo revealed shades of black, death, and thrash violently assembled into a refined vision of chaotic mayhem - a runaway train barely remaining on the rails. Due to wild demand, this was immediately followed by vinyl and CD versions on Temple of Mystery in 2019.

Afterward, a string of live shows displayed the wretched results across Western Canada and the USA, playing alongside Aura Noir, Morbid Saint, Antediluvian, Witch Vomit, and more. What followed was a period of cloistered writing and conspiring while the world writhed in torment by the festering plague.

Two rough tracks destined for the eventual full length album were recorded in the REVERSED ritual space and released on limited tape by Bent Window Productions. This was to be fully realized on the REVERSED debut LP Wildly Possesed, heralding the dawn of a more aggressive and voracious worship of the ultimate extreme metal essence - 1986 - where labels of DEATH, BLACK, SPEED and THRASH were interchangeable.

The album was recorded at the infamous Fiasco Bros. Studios where Blasphemy recorded their legendary albums, mixed and mastered by Marco S. Vermiglio at The Forge Music Productions, and unleashed by infamous Irish underground devotee Invictus Productions in Spring 2024.

Sri Lanka’s Naga worshipping regiment SERPENTS ATHIRST return with an all-obliterating offering of 3 venomous hymns on MCD format titled “HERALDING CEREMONIAL MASS OBLITERATION”. After Sri Lanka’s GENOCIDE SHRINES  took the world by storm with their celebrated EP “Devanation Monumentemples” released in 2012 through Cyclopean Eye Productions, India (the same label that is releasing SERPENTS ATHIRST’s offering in MCD format) SERPENTS ATHIRST  have followed the dark paths to the abysmal vaults to conjure up another heaven-slaying pillar of blasphemy and entropy.

Influenced by the great elder deities of iron and hell like Blasphemy, Sarcófago, Venom, Beherit, Immortal, Bathory Etc, SERPENTS ATHIRST’S  release is marked by simplistic structures carved with the involution and evolution of world-tormenting hatred from within. Both the strings and the drums have followed simplistic structures that remind of the darkest essence worshiped in the days of yore in classic releases like “Blood Upon The Altar” and “INRI.” The  hymns flow through passages of lightning fast barrage of blasts and  memorable, evil riffs while slowing down in phases in the middle just to gear up for another assault on the senses of all that is consecrated. The vocals are marked by reverb-drenched throaty rasps born from the innermost spirit of a tormented self, a style that works brilliantly to do justice to song titles like “Ritual Vomitting”. It’s gritty, ugly, rancid and abysmal, preserving the olden aesthetics of  Canadian/Brazilian/Finnish black metal. The sound production is one element that really stands out as something remarkable – old, primitive and death-worshiping to the bones! All music on this release was recorded at Blasphemous War Goat! Studios and mixed/mastered by the very experienced and talented B.W.G. (Genocide Shrines/Funeral in Heaven). Credit must be given to him for his amazingly talented and inspired work to shape this majestically extreme sound that enhances the very experience surrounding this offering.

The album front cover artwork is another department that has hit the right spot perfectly for SERPENTS ATHIRST in this release. The talented Alex Shadrin of  SICKRITES and SERPENTRANCE fame has been responsible for the truly brilliant artwork. It indeed does justice to the very concept and presentation that this release has aimed to emulate. All in all, this offering from Serpents Athirst truly bears testimony to the rising underground cult of unadulterated and intolerant metal in Sri Lanka and South Asia as a whole, and also to the fact that we, the listeners, will be subjected to greater aural attacks from the sons of the RaavanKommand in the days to come.Highly recommended! Mandatory for those with iron and thunder in their hearts!

STRIDŽIE DNI ("THE WITCHING DAYS") is a celebration of the countryside in Western Slovakia, with all its grotesque myths and lore. All lyrics are written in local dialect and they mostly deal with folklore legends based on rural witchcraft, drunkenness and also national pride. 
Like the Slovak soul itself, these songs are often both grim and humorous, merry and melancholic at the same time.

After proving themselves with two celebrated demo cassettes and a split LP, Predatory Light unveils their self-titled debut full-length, set to be released on CD by Invictus Productions on September 22nd and the vinyl co-released by Invictus and Psychic Violence. While logically expanding upon the already-distinct voice established on earlier releases and venturing down the same labyrinthine paths, Predatory Light also forges new ground for the band. While much of the songwriting finds the band pushing further into the melodic unknown, there is simultaneously a paradoxical willful regression that witnesses the players more clearly exhibiting the influence of classic Greek, Italian, and South American black metal. It is precisely this ability to balance tradition with a single-minded compositional freedom that makes the album so remarkable. 

Compared to Predatory Light's already-worthy catalog, the album is marked by an increased level of maturity and confidence. The production is spacious and open, allowing the individual instruments to be distinctly audible in all of their warped and maniacal glory. The vocals are also another notable point of evolution for the band: stripped of the shelter of excessive studio effects and performed with a previously unheard level of humanity and power, the result is decidedly less modern and effectively captures an aura of ancient evil only sought after on earlier releases. Additionally, Predatory Light sees the rhythm section taking on a more significant role than on previous output, with the drums and bass providing a more muscular and imaginative skeleton for the melodic flesh of the songs to hang on.  

With cover art that is suitably haunting and cryptic for the music contained therein, the entire release exhibits the utmost care and attention to complimentary detail. These details, coupled with assured and focused songwriting, powerful performances, and a genuinely palpable and unyielding atmosphere serve to make Predatory Light's debut not only a landmark in the band’s own development, but an instantly memorable and welcome outlier in the global landscape of contemporary black metal.

On September 26th, Invictus Productions, in conspiracy with Iron Bonehead Productions, is proud to present the highly anticipated debut album of Switzerland's Deathcult, Beasts of Faith. Hot on the heels ofInvictus' reissue of the band's now-acclaimed Demo '12, Deathcult strike with an iron-fisted statement of their fullest potential. Early on, the quartet's sound betrayed a wealth of classic influences - namely early Morbid Angel, Death, Possessed, Sepultura, and Necrovore - but the filth 'n' fury was certainly in place, and the band have now maximized that malevolent spirit with hook-laden songwriting and gut-churning crunch.

Indeed, Beasts of Faith is timeless, eternal DEATH METAL art, within and without, and Deathcult bend its essence to their will but never break it, because true Metal of Death is never broken. Across its nine tracks,Beasts of Faith ravages and roars, surging with a bestial violence but never spilling into aimless chaos; its violence is tangible and terrible, but is always patiently and proudly parlayed. Here, those aforementioned influences are more deeply integrated to such an extent, they're subtle at best - although Death's "Evil Dead" is given a faithful reading here - and a concurrent strain of early Scandinavian death metal (both Swedish and Finnish) is equally discernible. Nevertheless, Deathcult's songwriting reigns supreme and Beasts of Faith roams restlessly, resulting in a swift 'n' satisfying listen despite often aiming for the epic.

INVICTUS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present CRURIFRAGIUM's highly anticipated debut album, Beasts of the Temple of Satan. Although only springing to foul life in 2015, CRURIFRAGIUM's history stretches back to their previous existence as Warpvomit. And although only existing for a couple years before the name-change, with their lone Carnal Sacrifice demo, Warpvomit verily approximated their moniker: disgusting, gestatingly cyclonic bestial metal that brimmed with a weird 'n' unsettling chaos and a tar-thick density.

Alas, with that name change came a relatively more finessed approach to the bestial arts; CRURIFRAGIUM's eponymous debut demo suggested a slight change was afoot, but it's with Beasts of the Temple of Satan where the power-trio truly come into their own. Resolutely crude and barbaric and forsaking any niceties like "progression" or good taste, CRURIFRAGIUM explode forth with a filthiness beyond compare. Granted, its grind 'n' churn owes reverential debut to the dual gods of Blasphemy and Beherit, but these particular Beasts of the Temple of Satan exhibit a ghastly, gibbering intensity that sounds like those last frayed ends of sanity forever severing their grip upon (ir)reality and (ir)rationality. Within that palpable possession, the maelstrom whipped forth ably benefits from a stout and sawn-off production that's simply crushing to behold.

Naddred present as a brand new force in a burgeoning Irish underground that Invictus Productions is very pleased to be working with on the debut release. Formed in 2016 with members of notable Irish acts Slidhr and Eternal Helcaraxe along with former Sol Axis members, Naddred crafts a twisted blend of black/death metal that stands a testament to the darkest recesses of the Irish mind when it comes to creating a foreboding, forbidding and ghastly work of art.

A new Irish entity featuring members of Slidhr and Eternal Helcaraxe and former members of Sol Axis, Naddred are truly a summation of their combined experience in the black metal trenches. Across the four tracks comprising Sluagh, the quartet whip forth a fury of gnarly-yet-nuanced black metal, ably balancing beyond-the-shade atmosphere with palpably physical force. As an opening statement, it bespeaks an already firm confidence as well as underlining the still-growing power of Irish black metal: the torch has been lit with Sluagh, and Naddred are carrying it.

Invictus Productions and Iron Bonehead Productions announce April 7th as the international release date for the massively anticipated debut album of Belgium's Possession, Exorkizein. Invictus will handle the album's CD release while Iron Bonehead will handle its vinyl LP version.
One of the hottest bands in the modern black/death metal underground, Possession's ascent has been rapid but never exacting, and more than rightly earned. Forming in 2012, their debut demo, His Best Deceit - released jointly by Invictus and Iron Bonehead, in 2013 - exploded with excitement, showing an incendiary charisma rarely heard, not to mention a veteran's grasp of engaging songwriting. But for however filthy 'n' furious His Best Deceit was, less than a year later, the band released the Anneliese EP: a catacombed dirge that proved there were yet more haunting depths to this still-young band.
Between the two records, Possession's name was already on the tongues of legions worldwide - which is all the more remarkable considering their canon, to that point, consisted of six songs. Alas, in 2015 arrived the 1585-1646 mini-album. The band's longest work to date at 25 minutes, 1585-1646 studiously explored more concerted lyrical themes, marrying the conceptualism of the Anneliese EP to a still-unfolding, still-unholy synthesis of ancient Metal of Death and the pitchest-black metal. It was the band's boldest move to date, teasing their now-rabid fanbase with greater glories to come...and now they have arrived with Exorkizein.
Effectively a summation of Possession's powers and prowess they displayed across their first three recordings, Exorkizein is the bold and brazen first-album statement that will fully write the band's name into black/death legendry. Its fury is more feral and unchained than ever, its downshifts into doom more swirling and fatal, and its recording is as rounded and robust as a highly anticipated debut requires. And yet, for however much this is all unmistakably Possession, Exorkizein marks a change in lineup: vocalist Mestema is out of the band and has been replaced by Viriakh, while S.Iblis enters as new bassist. Far from a disabling blow, this lineup shakeup has resulted in a stronger Possession than ever before, brimming with madness and mystery, slavering with sin and ever prepared to strike. The youthful discordance has slightly, subtly given way to an ageless confidence, without one sacrifice of the core ethics of authentic, deeply-felt black/death METAL.
More or less written in one year, with no stopping doing gigs, Possession's Exorkizein was recorded once again at Blackout Multimedia with Phorgath (Enthroned, Emptiness). Artwork was also once again created by underground icon Chris Moyen. And Possession once again chose Invictus and Iron Bonehead to release the album because they're "a loyalty-above-all kind of band, and that is part of our identity and strength." Comparisons to Conqueror, Revenge, and Black Witchery are inevitable, and indeed, HUMAN AGONY are among the few elite bands deserving of such comparisons. That the band hails from Victoria, B.C.—known for the infamous Ross Bay Cemetery and a longstanding history of Satanic and occult activity—naturally also draws attention to the profound influence of Blasphemy. Whereas many, if not most, bands that attempt to play this subgenre tend to be style over substance, HUMAN AGONY demonstrate an intense dedication to writing songs that are complex and captivating. While the musicianship on these tracks is undeniably impressive, it is the strength of the songwriting that truly set HUMAN AGONY apart. Each track contains a procession of riffs, precisely pieced together, with the collection of songs strategically sequenced to highlight the compositional arc of the album as a whole.

Significantly, the production showcases the instrumentation while maintaining the natural cacophony the band cultivates. The guitars stand out just enough to give voice to the riffs, as the frenzied, violent pulse of the drums bludgeons the listener. The unhinged solos and precise cutaways add a degree of unpredictability to the songs, while the wretched vocals lend a feral element to the recording. Interspersed among the tracks are occasional unsettling interludes and extraneous noise to disorient the listener before being propelled back into the fray. Bookending the album are an intro and outro performed by harsh noise musician Striations, who has toured with and collaborated with HUMAN AGONY in the past.

In every way, Putresence of Calvary is the fulfillment of the promise of HUMAN AGONY's earlier work—the blood-drenched blossom of war’s carnage. Finally, the cover illustration by the skilled and highly regarded Finnish artist Heidi Kettunen, known for contributing cover art for Ride For Revenge, superbly complements HUMAN AGONY's music and provides a fitting aesthetic for this debut album.

Today we premiere a brand new track from the forthcoming Malokarpatan album Krupinské Ohne, which is out officially on Friday March 20th. As the band had already been playing this one live over the last while, it was decided that it would be the best one to present as some may already be familiar with it and those who are not, can rejoice in a new track! Guitarist Adam says of the new track; "Despite its 8 minute length, this is in fact one of the shorter songs on the album. We've chosen to publish it as we were already playing it live during our late autumn gigs. It has a bit of a hymnic feeling, as within the storyline of the album concept it describes a dreamlike flashback of one of the Krupina witches, back to a Walpurgis Night when she was received into the clandestine cult and swore an oath to forces beyond this world. This happens at the Štangarígel Rocks which is a place depicted on the album cover, where we also took band pictures."
