In recent times, it appears that the internet has fueled greater division, leading to increased polarization. This trend has pushed individuals toward virtue signaling, often expressing selective outrage. What is selective outrage? Selective outrage is the tendency of individuals or groups expressing outrage or moral indignation selectively based on personal biases. People may choose to speak out against certain offenses while ignoring or downplaying others that may be equally or even more significant. Selective outrage can manifest in social issues and personal relationships with someone condemning a person for a particular action while excusing similar behavior from a friend. One could argue that selective outrage undermines the credibility of moral or ethical judgments, suggesting that the outrage is motivated more by self-interest and tribalism rather than genuine concern for justice or morality.

Xiorro's latest release, "Selective Outrage," sets the storm of airwaves for Whirlwind Trax’s 2024 release calendar. A release containing 2 tracks that could seamlessly slide into a set to twirl up a dance floor. The titled track, "Selective Outrage," kicks off the release with an explosive blend of drums, thunderous 808 bass, and soul-stirring vocals. For the 6th Frenzy instalment, we’re hitting close to home as residents Beau Didier & Isaiah step in. Although these stars on the rise need little to no introduction, it feels like the right moment to have a moment to shed light on the ethos of this Dutch-producing duo. Both having roots in the Dutch rave scene, they carved out a true-to-the-core approach to techno, becoming highly functional to keep dancefloors around the globe rolling without any stop to it. They deliver a 6-track storyline that lives up to that craft including remixes by Italian Hertz Collision & Belgium techno-pioneer Steve Redhead.

‘Workin’ introduces the A-side and sets the scene for the EP with vibey rhythms and blissful vocals. The ‘Change’ gets naughty with sway-induced low-ends and striking highs sure to make hips shake across the dancefloor. Landing down from up-high energy, Hertz Collision delivers an atmospheric remix with hypnotic elements and a darker touch. On the B-side, the two residents take over the steering wheel again, which can be felt immediately. ‘Fusion’ is a track that takes repetitive motion to another level, the type of track that makes you stay longer in the morning hours. To close off with elegance - ‘CD-Rom’ elevates to gracious states with enchanting spheres and spells.

Adding another dimension to it all, Steve Redhead delivers two remixes of which one is a digital bonus. Words can’t live up to the force, this is a transition back to the 00s hard techno era.
