Heart Petal Meditation with Laurie Ferreri

This guided meditation for healing comes from the Taoist Qi Gong tradition. It is based on the concept that smiling affects the organs and the health of the entire body. When we smile, we engage muscles in the face that are linked to various nerves including the autonomic nervous system which helps us to relax and have a feeling of wellbeing.

Numerous studies show that smiling helps to elevate our mood, helps the body release cortisol and endorphins which lowers blood pressure, increases endurance, reduces pain and stress and strengthens the immune system.

The Taoists believe that by smiling into the brain, organs and body parts, that they experience that good energy and therefore can be at their best. Think of how much we take the functioning of our bodies for granted and never thank them for the hard work they do? The Taoist way is to treat them well by sending them smiles, loving kindness, appreciation and gratitude.

Some time ago I ran across an article in the Washington Post about how even smiling behind our masks is important. It not only affects our emotions but affects the emotions of others also. It seems counter intuitive to smile when you don’t feel like it, but research shows that social contact improves physical and mental health, increases immunity and reduces stress.

When you are smiling you are more approachable to others and your social interactions tend to increase. A 2017 emotion study found that introverted people tend to experience better moods when they act like extroverts. It turns out that humans are really good at reading eyes which are “the windows to the soul”. Eye contact makes us feel safe and less disconnected.

Our eyes evolved over time to facilitate non-verbal communication and we can smile with our eyes, giving rise to a new term: “smizing” where the eyes crinkle at the corners, this can be seen even if you were wearing a mask over your nose and mouth.

This guided healing meditation will have some moments of silence during which we contemplate the images that I lead you through. You can increase the energy of what we are doing by putting your hands on the various parts of the body that we are focusing on while visualizing and using intention to direct the warm healing energy from your hands to reach a particular area.

According to Taoism, each organ has an associated color and both positive and negative emotions are stored in them. Again, color is very important to the health of the body, which is why it is said that eating a colorful diet is important and beneficial. Even having color around us and wearing colorful clothing can be helpful.

The Taoists also believe that the organs store accumulated energy, and this can cause imbalances. Being able to release the excess and negative energies of the emotions is important. Each organ has an associated animal for protection, and we will use those protective animal images in the meditation. So, this is a guided healing meditation that provides healing to the body/mind and transforms the emotions at the same time. You can even do this meditation while sitting or lying down, with your eyes closed or open, and your video on or off.

After all, the breath is closely connected with God. In secret oral traditions, it’s held that the name of God is actually unpronounceable; if the name of God is spoken, it is experienced not as a word but as breath.

And so, if you approach it this way, then with each breath, you are saying God’s name, you are connecting with the Divine that is as close to you as your breath. What a beautiful and profound truth.

The Torus is a geometric energy pattern that exists in every living thing from an atom to a galaxy.  This torus movement meditation will be about 30 min. long and there will be some silent spaces. Bite Sized Buddhism 4 - The Four Contemplations  - Part 1 with Greg Tzinberg

A tranquil guided meditation on joy that will help you discover what obscures your joy and will then help you let go of these obscurations. Listen to this guided meditation to tap into joy’s true source and then share with others.

We often look for joy and happiness to come from our outer life, but as we know, things constantly change, and we can’t always rely on that. The relationship can end, the car can break down, work challenges sap our energy, nothing stays the same. When you reflect on your stresses currently and those of the past year or longer, be aware that the memories of stressful situations do get stored in our cells when we don’t have ways to release the stress. We might not even be aware of how we store them and how they affect our wellbeing. The obstacles to joy come from letting the ego run things. The ego shows up in parts of us that are clinging to past hurts and that want to feel safe.

True joy has to be found within to have any sustaining power. Not a small task when we’ve been trained and programmed to look for it on the outside for our whole existence. As they say in Buddhism, the only thing we can rely on is change and impermanence. So, although we need to reorient ourselves to getting that joy from the inside, it’s difficult to do. And after years of living this way, we may feel that it’s hard to access at all.

Our true self, the higher self or Soul is the source of pure light, love and joy. It becomes a matter of letting go of the obscurations to that light and creating space for joy to enter. This is who we really are, not the parts of us holding leftover pain from the past, clinging to old habits and hurts and old ways of thinking. All of this needs to come up, be examined and released to create space for our true nature.

We can invite our Soul into our life more, asking for answers to the big questions of life: “Who am I”, “what am I here to do”, “how can I make the world a better place?” And listening for the guidance in the intuitive hints we get, the messages we receive and the symbols around us.

Meditation is instrumental in this process because in meditation, we are seeking to reach that light where joy resides. It can take many years to penetrate the darkness to get to that light. Noticing what comes up in one’s consciousness, thanking the parts of you that are bringing things to your attention, letting each thing go, creating space and emptying out so that the answers come. We may not get any great insights in meditation every time, but that’s OK because in the peace and stillness of meditation we are creating space for joy to download.

Meditation for Healing the Body

Mindfulness is a starting point. We need to become open, aware and alert
to where we are, what our mind is thinking, our feelings we are feeling
and where our urges may want to take us. Beyond all this content
however is the mind itself.

What is the nature of the mind when it is not busy thinking, feeling, and
wanting something? This guided meditation practice introduces us to mind
in its natural state which is spacious, open and free from objects and
distractions. It is easier to experience than you may think.

Mindfulness meditation teaches us to first “tame the mind”. Since we
cannot stop thinking and registering sensory input, we need to be able to
tame our habit of chasing each thought, naming each impulse and to
create elaborate stories that derail our efforts to become still. Once we
tame the mind, we can then turn our attention to “training the mind”.

True mindfulness is achieved when we can abide in the silence and
natural, joyful buoyancy of Mind Itself. Thus, we train the mind to turn
away from outer distractions and to attend to the inner qualities of
natural mind. Once we experience this, even for a moment or two, we
validate for ourselves what wise teachers have been saying for centuries,
that happiness and freedom are found within.

Forgiveness For Health and Wellbeing With Ho'oponopono Meditation

The first step towards creating global peace is through taking responsibility for healing ourselves.

With so much conflict manifesting in our outer world at this time it is more important than ever for us to resolve our inner conflict.  And the powerful mantra of Ho’oponopono can aid us greatly in this.  Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian method of conflict resolution.

Times such as these can cause us to feel helpless, fearful and judgmental – taking us further away from our true intrinsic nature, the radiance and the peace of our Higher Self, our Inner Divine Being. 

We often talk about how all we want in our life is peace, and say: “Why can’t we all be at peace?”  But have we taken responsibility to resolve our own inner conflict?  Our conflict with others, with situations, with experiences in our world?  It has been said many times before, “Peace begins with us”.

In this meditation we embrace the courage to look inside ourselves to look at where our inner conflict is emerging from and applying the energies of the ancient Ho’oponopono technique to cleanse and purify these parts of our being and set ourselves free from the battle that rages within.

Our prayer is that all of the good that is generated by this meditation will aid and benefit all beings.

Resolving Conflict Through Ho'oponopono Meditation

This guided meditation for peace is based on elements from Deepak Chopra’s book, Peace is the Way.   In this book, Deepak talks about the need for daily moments of thinking, feeling and acting for peace.

By recognizing all the ways that war benefits all of us by providing an outlet for national vengeance, satisfying the demands of fear, providing security to the homeland and bringing power to the victor, he says that the way of peace must offer a substitute for every single thing that war provides. He talks about consciously communicating about peace, loving kindness towards those who need our help, conflict resolution, and creating communities for peace. He says that “If you and I demonstrate that peace is more satisfying than war, the collective consciousness will shift.”

It all starts with inner peace, and meditation can help us develop this inner peace. How do we do this? We start by bringing peace to our inner life, our emotions, thoughts and relationships. Through inner stillness we can touch the Divine parts of our being where peace resides.

So today, let’s take an opportunity to meditate for peace. This meditation is inspired by elements of Chopra’s book, Peace is the Way.

Peace Meditation

The Divine is everywhere, equally present in all things. Patience, generosity, wisdom and joy are all attributes of our higher nature. Once we align with our true self, we can access these qualities and more consistently stand steady in the light of our higher Self. Rainbow Terraces Our Will To Love Is The Cause Of Peace Meditation

This meditation was created for Earth Day 2022, yet it is a meditation that can be utilized at any time.  One of our greatest contributions at this time would be a collective commitment each day to feel the respect, gratitude and genuine appreciation for earth that we summon from our hearts each year on Earth Day. 

We can increase this afterglow by taking more responsibility for our energy expenditures, including our thoughts, feelings, emotions and our actions. 

As we qualify our life through the heart we increase our capacity to love and care for earth, ourselves, others and earths’ creatures. 

Increasing our love raises our vibration which connects us with a self-sustaining frequency of attunement and harmonious interaction with the earth day to day. 

This meditation is adapted from a meditation by HeartMath GCI (Global Coherence Initiative.)  HeartMath monitors the global coherence all around the world by putting sensors in about 12 different countries that collect the data.  One of the hypotheses is that: Collective human consciousness affects the global information field. 

Therefore, large numbers of people creating heart-centered states of care, love and compassion will generate a more coherent field environment that can benefit others and help offset the current planetary discord and incoherence. On a practical level, all businesses, governments and citizens must take bold action to turn things around.  We can start by reducing our use of plastics, because right now there is 8.8 million tons of plastic entering the ocean yearly, threatening over 700 species of marine animals, according to the journal Science and National Geographic.  Plastic is in the fish we eat, and the air we breathe.  It is a hormone disruptor and affects our health in ways we are just beginning to understand. 

There will be several pauses of silence in this meditation as we contemplate the words and images.

How to Meditate with Ho'oponopono

The purpose of this meditation is to move into an at-one-ment with the Light of our own Divinity, our Higher Self, that source of Unconditional Love that is focused deep within the heart of our being. We utilise the Ho’oponopono Prayer in order to transform all of that which keeps us separate from being the full expression of our divinity in this life.

We begin the meditation by moving into a state of complete relaxation, deep into the spaciousness of our heart centre, into the radiant Light of our own Divinity, our Higher Self, our Soul. We take the time to allow to rise up those beliefs about ourselves, a thought or a feeling or a memory of the past that holds us back, that prevents us from making our at-one-ment with this Divine part of our being. And then we clean these resistances and blockages, these thoughts and beliefs through the prayer of the Ho’oponopono:

“I’m sorry, please forgive me, I love you, thank you.”

Taking the time to sound these mantric words with a clarity of  purpose and intention, to evoke the essence, the true meaning of each line of this prayer in order to cleanse and purify all of that which stands in the way of us coming to know ourselves more fully and moving deeper and deeper into the awareness of who we truly are. We sound the words deep within our heart, feeling the essence of this prayer with a heartfelt yearning for change.

In this class we take time to consider what self-love really is, where it originates and what causes us to turn our back upon this most divine energy that is focused deep within the core of our being.

One of the greatest obstacles that so many of us face in this life is the capacity to love ourselves fully and completely. We all have certain degrees of self-love, enough self-love to cause us to participate in classes such as this, to establish a meditation practice perhaps, to be able to care for ourselves enough that we maintain a lifestyle that is relatively happy, balanced and satisfying to some degree. Yet there are areas of our life where we are not content, it could be related to our relationship with ourselves or with others, our emotional state of being, our level of stress and anxiety perhaps. We are often so quick to condemn ourselves, to judge and criticise ourselves, but how do we express love towards ourselves?

Loving Yourself Through Ho'oponopono Class

Through our commitment to change, to become new, we utilize the Rainbow Terraces Meditation as a dynamic process for transformation. It enables our letting go of those aspects of the past that no longer serves us in order that we can experience a new birth
within. In life, a part of us is always dying and being reborn.

In this guided meditation we move upward through each of the seven coloured terraced gardens. At each of the seven gardens there is a corresponding commitment. We begin with the first garden which is red and the commitment here is to change. As we move up

As we clean the negative charge around all of our experiences from the day we are then able to express heartfelt gratitude for what we have just moved through and thereby experience the fullness of our life. We then prepare for sleep by moving deep into the heart centre, into the centre of all love within us. Into the radiant light of that Divine Presence that is deep within the heart of our being. We bring all that we are into this Divine Presence, and all of our experiences of the day are filled with light, love and gratitude. We celebrate our life this day. Deeper and deeper into the centre of the heart, to that great abyss of Divine Love. Resting within the arms of this Divine Presence as we drift into sleep.

Gratitude Sleep Meditation with Ho'oponopono

Morning Gratitude Meditation offers an opportunity to begin the day by expressing appreciation for all that we are and all that we are a part of. Gratitude for that wellspring of life that is focused deep within our heart, the true essence of our being. We recognise that each time we express gratitude today we are activating that wellspring of life and love and joy. We are activating this energy and allowing it to radiate throughout the whole of our being through the entirety of our day.

We have a choice, we can awaken to our new day with doom and gloom, “oh it’s Monday”, or we can wake up each morning with the celebration of life, thinking about everything we are grateful for today. It’s pretty difficult to drag ourselves out of the day that begins with doom and gloom, but the day that begins with gratefulness, thankfulness, joy, love, appreciation, sets a mood for the whole day. It’s a conscious choice.

We begin this guided meditation by moving deep into the heart of our being where we visualise this wellspring of life that is pure light radiating in all directions. We say the words of the Ho’oponopono

Step 11.1 Guided Meditation for Recovery

We are told in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous that Resentments are the #1 offender for us alcoholics and addicts. By its very nature, as we create a resentment, carefully nurturing and feeding it, they grow into hideous monsters in the dark. And monsters that contain a great deal of energy, OUR energy, that will swing around to hit us from behind (our vulnerable place at

that time) and throw us right into a relapse, wet or dry. I have known people with 30 plus years of sobriety taken down by a resentment…over how late the mail arrived at his house each day. That is how useless and futile Resentments are! We spend moments, hours, weeks, even years feeding and coddling a resentment until it is strong enough to take away our sobriety and sanity. THAT is ridiculous…and we do it not only voluntarily, but EAGERLY!

We do it regularly…until we see that in nurturing (thinking about, mulling over, rethinking and reliving) a resentment, we are actually adding energy to it, throwing gasoline on the already roaring flames, and that’s just not very bright of us to do!!

Instead, we must remove ourselves from the tangle of energies and release them from this “resentment job” we have ordered. Yes, another place where “Our troubles, we think, are basically of our own making” but here we get to the heart of a resentment, the subtle energy we lock into it. That is ours! And a very dumb place to put our precious energies, don’t you think?

In this meditation, we are going to learn to move these imprisoned energies out of the resentment Thoughtform we put them in, so they are once again available for US.

Rose Meditation on Loving Kindness

When you start out learning to meditate, if often seems out of reach. Many newcomers to meditation say, “I tried, but I can’t meditate.” They find that their minds are distracted, bored and unable to focus and so they give up. Yet, it is very normal even with very experienced meditators to be distracted with “monkey mind” at times.

Having thoughts is normal, and we can’t stop ourselves from thinking.  After a while, you may notice that you are running out of things to think about, you begin to attend less to the procession of thoughts and discover body sensations and a sense of expanding spaciousness. This experience is an indication that you are tapping into the underlying spiritual benefits of meditation.

Once I said to a friend, “I can’t meditate for a whole hour” which was a requirement of a particular type of meditation practice I signed up for.  And she said, “Can you do it for 5 minutes?” I thought about that, and I said “yes, I could.”  Once I limited the time, and didn’t put pressure on myself to do more, it became easier and then when I relaxed into 5 minutes, it felt good to keep going. So welcome to the 5 mindful minutes of meditation.
