Marky Lyrical is an inspired soulful reggae singer based in Sutton, Canada. His recent work includes 2022 singles "Herbman Ting" and “River to Pray” in collaboration with House of Riddim out of Austria, followed by works with Fire Connection Records (France, UK), notably, “Run Run Run” (2024) and “My Joy”, making an impact in Europe and beyond. 

With “Babylon Walls”, Marky begins his work with Akashic Records (USA) and King Alpha (UK). He is certain to make an impact with the international audience as a versatile and innovative reggae singer worthy of distinction.

Humble Yourself (Live)

“Black Roots”, the eponymously named debut album, was originally released in 1983 on Kick Records, by which time the band was established as one of the UK's leading live acts with a strong repertoire of socially aware songs reflecting the issues of the day. When it came to their first album, they chose eight of their strongest tracks and assembled what was to become one of the classic British reggae albums of the decade.

Featuring 8 songs “The Father”, “Survival”, “Juvenile Delinquent”, “What Them 'A Do”, “Opportunity”, “Tribal War”, “Africa” and “Move On”, the album covers themes of social alienation, deprivation, repatriation, RastafarI, violence within the black community and ends, with the tale of a failing relationship. Three decades later, many of the songs are just as relevant and provide the perfect complement to their latest recordings.

It was re-issued Bristol Archive Records on vinyl in 22nd April 2013 to coincide with Record Store Day.  The release on vinyl was strictly limited to 500 copies worldwide. 400 copies were made be available for Record Store Day, 22nd April 2013, at participating retailers and feature a facsimile of the original sleeve, whilst 100 copies will be available directly from Bristol Archive Records and very select retailers and feature a unique handmade screen printed sleeve as well as being individually numbered, a very special edition.

This was the first time that this album was available on vinyl for twenty-five years and demand outstripped supply.

This release was made available by Nubian Records on digital platforms. Here is an opportunity to stream or download either this song or the full album that is still in great demand from old and new fans alike.

The aim of Inword is to express a spiritual vibration through conscious reggae music in the hope of inspiring people from all walks of life. The light of a positive message is much needed in these times of materialism. Original songs are inspired from the ancient scripture of many spiritual traditions and through personal meditation on the depths of human existence.
In the wake of Bob Marley's legacy people from all over the world have been inspired to play the genre of reggae music. It is a style that is known for its deep spiritual and cultural roots as well as strong political messages. These powerful themes have reached beyond the limits of colour class and creed, known in many circles as the "music of the people". These very aspects have led to the formation of the band Inword. Inword is a spiritually centered band that is known for performing a unique style of roots reggae. Since 2003 they have built a loyal following in Montreal, Quebec, due to their original sound which surpasses the usual monotonous critique of the reggae genre. With influences ranging from stars like Burning Spear and Alpha Blondy, to soulful singers like Ben Harper and Fela Kuti. With members hailing from Canada, Barbados, and Antigua, Inword displays a diverse array of talent with a potent delivery. In November 2009, Inword released their debut cd entitled, “Purify” which displays the versatility of reggae styles they can deliver while exposing their original touch. From dub to dancehall, to rub a dub and funk infused reggae riddims, Inword is a force to be reckoned with. The lyrical content is aimed at empowering its listeners to look within themselves to find true fulfillment. Indeed, reggae music is “word, sound and power”, and Inword’s mission is to maintain that reputation.
