Luis Leon is a producer and DJ from Peru, South America. He's the creator of bangers such as: “Love Is A Lie” on Double Tree Records as well as an unofficial but much loved edit of “This Charming Man” by The Smiths. 

He is always working on new edits to inject his DJ sets with a unique flavour and musical personality. His edit of Maverick Sabre’s “I Need” has achieved over 2.5 million plays and still gets a lot of love from fellow artists. Some other remixes has been released successfully in the last year with his unique touch such as “Beating Stronger”  by Atapy on Cimelde Records and “Like A Drug”  by Alex Barck feat. Stee Downes on Sonar Kollektiv.

Luis Leon - Deep House London Mix #049

It starts without rush. Natural sounds, soft pads, a diverse soundscape, open minded. Then the bass is coming in - straight and loud. A mixture of organic and electronic music, a mixture of old and new - welcome at the “Ancient Lake“, so clear and colorful. We are invited by Jonas Saalbach, a well known Live Act and producer from Berlin. On his first album he combines melodies and dancefloor elements, hard bass lines and story telling instruments.

We’ll find tracks grown with time on the album. Some are based on classical techno styles like “Driven By Madness feat. MZ Sunday Luv“ and “Hammada“. Others are made for listening and dreaming like “Thinking Of You“ and “June Gloom“. You can feel the spirit of summer in every number, the desire for adventures in the nature, the energy of the sun. Jonas Saalbach presents his summary of a year full of travels and studio nights. His cooperations with Paul Klatt for example, are an important part of his work. Berlin is a big playground for him with a lot of inspiration every day and so the album is like a story board of life, a perfect starter for a new season, energetic and unstoppably creative.

The 24th release on microCastle sees two of electronic music's most loved producers Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc. and Peter Goylan aka Lank back together for 2 more studio collaborations to follow up their 'Our Benefactors' EP from October of 2010. The 'Emotional Self' EP comes with two new original productions and remixes from: Microtrauma and Jamie Stevens. The 'Emotional Self' original gets the EP off on a very serious note. Cid Inc's titanium coated beats have never been more poignant or impactful. Jagged subby tones and a profoundly subversive bass line that reaches rib cage breaking depths sits at the foundation. Draped with sheets of percolating effects a futuristic and deeply thought provoking set of tone bending chords wash over the composition which creates a rather daunting and ominous mood. The composition peaks following an unsettled and foreboding breakdown with the lead chords warping and twisting their way to a momentous sonic conclusion.

The lone remix of 'Emotional Self' is provided by the German based duo Microtrauma who are famed for their outstanding productions on Traum; most notably 'Circulate'. Their recent 'Reflection' EP also on Traum has been heralded by many melodic techno fans as the EP of the year thus far and has earned serious praise from Hernan Cattaneo. 'Emotional Self' has been reconstructed by Microtrauma into a more techno inspired piece. The moody theme from the original is maintained and presented with a tougher and even more warped sensibility which should wreak havoc on even the most discerning dance floors. Microtrauma's dynamic fills, futuristic sound design and ultra sharp transitions lead to a tension filled drop that climaxes with a seriously buzzing groove and an enthralling finale. Already charted by Hernan Cattaneo Microtrauma's 'Emotional Self' remix looks to go down as one of their coolest productions all year.

The second original on the package 'Urban Biorhythm' comes with a rolling, cavernous bass line and an undeniable big room feel. Themed around an irresistible synth hook and a tone trembling tension filled drop 'Urban Biorhythm' has turned out to be the perfect complement to the more heady 'Emotional Self'. A Dub version of Urban Biorhythm has also been included which focuses on another one of Lank's rumbling grooves and layers of momentous hypnotic rhythms.

The lone remix of 'Urban Biorhythm' is supplied by Jamie Stevens who has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his career. As one of Australia's most talented and sought after music producers, he has proven his skill in professional sound design, music scores for film and contemporary dance music. As the founding member of Infusion, the much-loved Australian electronic live act, he's left his mark around the globe, headlining some of the biggest and most respected clubs including; Fabric- London, Pacha - Buenos Aires, Womb- Tokyo and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde and Creamfields in Moscow, Brazil, UK and Argentina. In his home country, Infusion received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work. Here at microCastle we've been huge fans of Jamie's for years so we were thrilled to finally find a project for him. For his 'Urban Biorhythm' interpretation Jamie has completely overhauled the huge progressive original into a funky, wobbly, orchestral techno mix for the ages. An irresistibly chunky groove is complemented with gorgeous piano accents, shuffling drums and panoramic, widescreen synths for what results in one of Jamie's most unique and inspiring studio creations to date. An understated anthem for the ages from Mr. Stevens and a perfect close to Cid Inc. & Lank's second EP for microCastle.

We welcome this summer heater which is “Gilli 88 EP”. A tribute to the 80s phenomenon...THE PANINARO. Without any ideological basis or connection to a particular lifestyle THE PANINARO was based around fashion imagery and luxurious clothing. Enzo found this translatable to today’s social network dynamics and is prime for the retrofuturistic dancefloors of today that are inspired by the golden days of Italo-Disco.

“Low Red” is a Italo-Pop gem conceived with Aldebaran and Quique on vocals that takes inspiration from the legends that were – the mighty Suicide. An instrumental version dives deeper into the groove for DJ play persuasion. “Aj Squinza” takes a classic 80’s disco approach with sound-scaping synths that endlessly jam with an everchanging rhythm. “Volpinata” succumbs to a classic EBM groove that finds its way out of focus due to fat synth melodies that engorge this elevating track.

Inyan is a term, coined by the Lakote-mythology, the spiritual world of North and South Dakotas native americans. Inyan (rock) was the first out of the greater gods, he existed already at the beginning of time and he is the father of the earth goddess, the mother of all life. As you see, Mario Neh, the founder of the Inyan-imprint, is a club-musician, whos world isnt functioning by the rules of paragatism or by cold logic. Inyan gains it's innovative capacity from a deep belief, that everything is part of a big ensemble. This also concerns the music produced by this fresh record label, which is made for one reason : to touch the hearts of everybody who listenes to it. Inyan-productions have to take its listeners by teir hands and to kidnap them to a world, that hasn't got to do anything with the dullness of everyday life. Inyan is bound to this maxim and it's also a manifesto of the label's headhoncho Mario Neha. Of course: Inyan is a creative cornucopia for electronic music and electronic music can be soulless and cold. But Inyan proves that this hasn't got to be by releasing heart-warming, emotional and euphoric music. Mario Neha, signed by the Berlin-based imprint Upon.You, fulfills with his new homebase a musical dream and procures a play field, on which he gives space to his overwhelming creativity and where he can give like-minded club-musicians a platform, on which they can do their own thing. Inyan is a appeal for more spirituality in a club-world, that is too functional and dominated by figures. And it's a birthplace to a whole lotta music, that moves people.
