The Place We Grew Up

In the haunting depths of this classical composition, the ominous overture begins with a low, foreboding rumble, echoing the ancient corridors of Dracula's castle. The strings emerge with a mournful melody, weaving a sense of mystery and impending doom. As the piece progresses, the brass section introduces powerful and menacing motifs, resonating like the ominous footsteps of the immortal Count.

The composition explores the dark and brooding atmosphere of Dracula's realm, with the woodwinds whispering eerie tales and the percussion section punctuating the air with a sense of impending danger. The haunting choir adds a spectral dimension, their voices rising and falling like ghostly echoes through the centuries.

Throughout the piece, the tempo shifts, and the dynamics fluctuate, creating a sense of tension and release. The music builds to climactic moments, reflecting the intensity of encounters with the legendary vampire. Our trio - that released a single of 3 tracks under the title of "Trois versions d'une histoire" (https://soundcloud.com/alexander-mihailov-96713983/sets/trois-versions-dune-histoire) here on SoundCloud on 27 June 2023 - is glad to present our 4th collaboration, "Hold on Now". Like the previous three, it was Patrick or DjArtw2001 (@djartw2007) who took the initiative and mixed in MAGIX on 18 December 2023 a part composed by Dan or DAN-DT (@Dan-T-3), originally back in 2014 under the title of "Hold on Now", with a part composed by Alex M in 2022, and originally included in a collaboration under the title of "Ictus" (https://soundcloud.com/alexander-mihailov-96713983/ictus-roberto-b-alex-m) that appeared on SoundCloud on 16 October 2022, and parts, effects, arrangements and transitions composed and mixed by DjArtw2001 recently. We are particularly grateful for the amazing vocals in Dan's' part (and original track of 2014) by Emily Richards (Madame Snowflake), who can be found on ccMixter: ccmixter.org/people/snowflake/profile. We hope you'll like this new collaboration, posted on SC on 25 February 2024 (by Alex M).

The painting in the artwork cover for the track was created by DAN-DT on 19 February 2024, and then the artwork cover was annotated in Mac OS Preview by Alex M on 25 February 2024 - in coordination and agreement with DjArtw2001 and DAN-DT.

Hold on Now - DAN-DT, Alex M & DjArtw2001

This is the full orchestral version of "Wind Vine", based around an instance of the kontakt instrument "Scene: Lotus".
All instrument tracks were recorded in one live take (separately), fully improvised and in the case of the Lotus recording, was also modulated live during the take.
Once recorded, the Lotus recording has not been modified in any way, however, the piano and other instruments have had some minor editing, the vast majority of which was removing any parts that didn't work so well, but I also made a few small time corrections or a couple of note adjustments where I hit the wrong keys here and there, but for the most part they are the original recordings. This was to be expected though, as I played my fully weighted key Oxygen 88 keyboard for the first time in a long while, compared to the Korg Micro Key I usually use (which has tiny keys as the name suggests).

The idea was to just run with it, record a single improvised take and then subtract from that take rather than add to, which is a new approach to how I usually work.

The piano used in this is the Kontakt sampled Piano instrument "The Giant"
All additional instruments used in this piece are also played via the Kontakt sampler, including: Stradvari Cello, Balinese Flutes, Bass strings section and Clarinet sfx from the Symphony Series, Hang Drum, and various instruments from the East Asia Spotlight Collection.

I don't confine my music to genres; if I were to categorize it, it would be a fusion of electronica, ambient, and soundtrack elements. To me, music serves as a unique form of artistic expression, akin to painting. I use frequencies and sounds to evoke vivid, imaginary landscapes, shapes, and textures within my mind – and I hope to do the same in yours!
