The keyboard riff started it all ~ this one has been the track on which I have kept trying and trying to realize my vision for it.  As I learned more, I kept going back to it.  I recently watched a video on Slate's Academy website showing Chris-Lord Alge mixing a track and his approach to drums is very minimalist - odd because he is known for a huge drum sound.  Just EQ and light compression.  I went back to this track a stripped all the processing I had applied, which was a lot, and reworked it with his approach.  

All leads are comp'd from six takes.  the opening riff just fell out the sky.  Could never reproduce it.  Synths are sounds from my Alesis Quadrasynth - an oldie now, but a goodie.  Bass line as well.  Sidechaining with the kick really helped give the bass some movement.

Tidal Seas

This track was inspired by a jam track Tim Collins had recorded on his Boss jam/drum machine.  The initial riff and breakdown ideas were there.  I added chord changes and the solo section.  Great to work with my long lost brother again (see the description for the CHASE Halloween Party tracks for further info).

Electric Dreamscape

Original Instrumental track.  Four separate acoustic guitar performances panned hard left-center-center-hard right. Took over 60 takes to get the four - no overdubs, no splices, no time shifts, no pitch correction.  Performed, mixed and mastered by me.

Dawn And The Day (Ashlyn's Song)

This track is just loops and lead guitar - The guitar track was recorded last...the first take is what you hear - no overdubs or comps.  The rhythm track just made me want to burn :) Crank it up!! ~

Things of note on the remix:  Used Pulsar Smasher 1176 "all-buttons-in" plugin which worked well to add excitement, weight and presence, especially on the drum overheads.  Also, used Sound Toys Decapitator on several tracks for the first time.   There is only five tracks - three guitar tracks, bass and drums.  The lead track plays both a rhythm and lead part.
