Our next guest is a one of the founders of @thecodecast. A well crafted music selector his vision of techno is a bit ritualistic, but aims to generate dark yet groovy and impactful atmospheres, using hypnotic sounds to impact the mind and percussion and grooves that impact the body as well. This submission highlights those combinations as a resents a balance of lightness with dark tones to create a beautiful atmosphere of emotions. Being a music producer, an engineer for live music, a voice actor, and a writer for the world famous Monument Magazine out of Oslo, Norway - Ian’s life is fully encompassed within being a creative to certain degree. Having a background in the American football sport for almost 10 years, his work ethic comes from the intense lifestyle of a high level athlete. 
The demonstration of music Widow has given us is a mix of some of his favorite recordings throughout the years. Being a lover of nostalgia, the tone conveys a comfortable feeling with warm undertones. All in all, you will be transcended to a time in which everything was easier.

For home use only’ is an anti-club social, a chance to get to know someone/something. A series of transmissions purely dedicated to exploring the other side.

Well, that was a weird couple of months. Apologies for the lack of transmissions but I’m sure everyone understands the complete lack of motivation and inspiration that has been cast across the world. That being said, it hasn’t slowed everyone down that's for sure. I’m completely backed up with incredible mixes from incredible people, so let’s get back to our original program. 

In celebration of such, we’re excited to return with a (gentle) bang in the form of episode 60, via the incredibly talented Kia. Unless you’ve been living under a rock (which is completely understandable) you would’ve noticed Kia’s light in many facets; an incredibly talented DJ, a passionate and dedicated label boss, and associated mix series runner (big ol tip’o’that to Animalia // link below), woolen based wunderkind, and most importantly a fucking lovely human being. 

And if you do know Kia then as you would expect, her submission to the series is nothing short of breathtaking. A perfectly constructed soundscape, daydreaming of an above-average paradise. Emotionally inciting on all fronts, it’s nice to feel things again and I think this is perfectly timed with the world opening back up again. The subtly rhythmic pulses of 4x4 drums reactivating that lost sense of liberating yourself on the dance floor (finally back in our sights) and the ethereal harmonies that keep you grounded on the bedroom floor. What Kia manages to do in an hour is exceptional, a short story that translates to a full novel, a true testament to her talent and understanding of music and all of the concepts that go with it. Best served through headphones with room to move.

So happy to announce that Oscillate Mix # 41 is provided by Katia aka Katiusha. It is a brilliant showcase of Katia’s vast knowledge about the more leftfield crevices of electronic music. The London-born DJ and radio host has established a versatile profile in the Berlin scene since moving here in 2017. Her radio show “Above The Clouds” on Cashmere explores various physical and emotional connections to different cloud formations by soundtracking them with the help of friends and guest DJs. On the other hand Katiusha loves a good rave and can provide an equally fitting soundtrack to your 140bpm+ club experience. Katia has had appearances on NTS radio, Rinse and is a regular guest on various mix series throughout the web. This mix escorts you slowly from the depth and darkness of Koehler’s - Destroying Angels via Lurka’s bass-heavy - Clean to faster landscapes provided by Heritage and Sibilant. The last third of the mix briefly dives deeper into funkier club sounds, swings back to the body shaking Ctrls Remix of Anastasia Kristensen’s - Volshebno only to land smoothly in the safe arms of Jex Opolis’ - Instant Ocean. Oscillate Mix #41 - Katiusha

Mexico-city based @tristanarp blurred the lines between the synthetic and the organic on his second full-length, Sculpturegardening. Released on Wisdom Teeth just last week, the Human Pitch label boss approached the album as a gardener might approach a landscape: using his array of machines and modular synths he let the music write itself. It's resulted in an album that bristles with glitches, ambient pads, downtempo drums, digital perc and micro-house details that succeeds in its mission to blend the made with the played. 

With this week's podcast, Tristan - who is also a member of Asa Tone with Melati Malay and Kaazi - aimed to show off all his sides as a producer, listener and DJ. While his album goes beyond the dance floor, here he mixes those styles with what he would play in a club. "Slippery rhythms, levitating environments and everything between these orbits," as he describes it. There are lots of edits, often many tracks are layered up at once and the whole thing plays out with many an unpredictable twist and turn. It's as adventurous and asymmetrical as you would expect from this always innovative artist.

Artist biography :

Dorian Gray is the reflective persona of the Italian producer and DJ, Moreno Mariotti. His productions formulate a refined deep and ambient atmosphere, cleverly connected to his interests beyond music. Trance rhythms, detailed ambient pads, and intervening acidic loops shape Dorian’s signature sound and provide a clear glance at this artist’s inspirational flow and intricate creative process. His work appeared on labels such as The Gods Planet, Space Trax, Informa Records and many others. In 2020 he launched his new label DORIAN.

"My musical foundations are rooted in AC/DC, Sabbath and Metallica and give rise to a love of 4/4 rhythm and the riff. From here they veered into where worlds collide – Pink Floyd met the Orb in a student dive and a love of electronica was born, encompassing pioneers such as Orbital, Leftfield et
al through to UK D&B, taking in Kruder & Dorfmeister and the dub scene along the way.
The love affair however ended in the early nineties, I wasn’t feeling anything from electronica anymore, but I knew the music I could hear in my mind must be out there - somewhere. My musical imaginations seemed to put all of the above aspects in place and was only discovered pre pandemic in the form of deep techno. This discovery so rekindled my love and excitement that I took the
plunge into DJing - I wanted to take the music internally heard and create mixes to ease back to and soothe the soul. Voila. I hope you all get the same level of enjoyment from this mix, as I had creating." - Morian.

Third installment for “Circulating Waves” is coming from Milan-based ELA.
She originated in Argentina and used to work in a club in Córdoba in 2011 where she discovered her love for electronic music. When she returned to her hometown of Buenos Aires a few years later, she got the chance to become more deeply involved with her beloved Techno through „Arjaus“ Electronic Music School, where she gained technical insights and producing skills.

Usually focusing on slower Techno and Ambient soundscapes, ELA leaves her footsteps at well-known institutions of the scene, including Crescent, Deep Electronics, Anodynic Frequencies or Ruina.
This time, she recorded a slightly faster mix for us, worshipping the inescapable vortex while oscillating between dreamy, organic fields, coloured by subtle rhythms and heavier, bass driven episodes with a psychedelic twist. 
ELA will skillfully take you on an eclectic trip through the different stages of charybdical hypnotism.
