The Anne Frank Tree was inspired by the dramatic end of life, in 2010, of the Amsterdam tree that Anne Frank mentioned in her diary. The tree had number 1686124 in the Dutch Database of Monumental Trees and these ciphers make for a fascinating melody in the fregish mode. The basic phrase is introduced by by Boudewijn Zwart on the carillon of the Westertoren - near het Achterhuis (secret annex) where Anne Frank lived in hiding.
