This is the first Iranon Grey work composed, with a radical upgrade in audio technology from my earlier processes.  My first with extensive use of software sampling, as opposed to hardware only (as I've done since 1991).  First mix was completed in July 2010.

Lumil Shei

This uses material from my first recording session with Meghann Rose in, I think, spring of '08? We rolled about fifty minutes on DAT, and other snippets of that session found their way into "mooncrone."

An Hour Of Wolves

This was my first in years starting from a half-dozen relatively straightforward rhythmic and percussion constructs. I'm discovering that density of aural elements is a hallmark of my current work. I'm okay with this. :) I suppose this could be dance-able, but I think I'd hurt myself trying to keep up...

Axiom

This piece was composed over several months, and is based on individual recordings made with the featured performers over three years. All four of us have collaborated in varying degrees through live performance, and have a deep respect for one another's talents. The title comes from a question I posed to Meghann in the spring of 2011; I'd asked her to describe her work with one word. Her response? "Crone."

"MoonCrone" has taken me the longest of any recent work, because a very particular mood and feeling needed to become evident in order to move forward. Given the distractions I deal with on a daily basis, it's not often I could immerse myself into that world. But I'm very happy with the work. :D

MoonCrone

This work, featuring Uxepi Ipexu on cello, took a great many months to get a feel for the right sound.  I'm happy with it.

Of Light, And The Unmaking Of Stone

This was created from an improv by Uxepi Ipexu on solo cello (with loose direction by yours truly) and includes additional strings and bowed piano.The title originates with an episode of one of the greatest television series ever, Chris Carter's "Millennium." It's a dense and challenging work, a style I'll be exploring further with other acoustic instruments and simulations.

My name is Gordon Romei.  My artistic influences, in the broadest sense, are Howard Phillips Lovecraft and John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.  Both authors created great and wonderful new worlds that few before had attempted, and it is in the spirit of these new realities that Iranon Grey came to be.  Derived from the most "Tolkien-esque" of Lovecraft's "Dreamlands" series, I want to explore and create aural fantasies in the widest possible sense.  Musical styles range the gamut of all my influences over forty years; honesty and purity of feeling are my primary concerns in expression.
