This period of our life is full of shadows and lights (like those of this beautiful day) and certainly of hope. The link between my mind and music is very strong and for this reason I decided to make this playlist with some compositions of my friends, artists and composers of Soundcloud. "A Chapter Lost In Us", my latest Cinematic-Electronic composition, features uplifting synths and melodies, all while following a story. As a whole, the record can be looked at from two different perspectives. It can represent a motif, which explains our perception of isolation, or it can simply portray the lost chapter of a novel. From a more focused perspective, the piece follows a protagonist, who is searching for something (or somebody) lost in the woods. When he reaches the cabin, he's knocks on the door and receives no response in return. It isn't until the end of the record, that we realize the page flipping in the woods, correlates with the book closing at the end of the composition. Some listeners perceive this to be the man inside the cabin reading this story, while others choose to believe that this is all fiction inside the mind of the isolated. Regardless of one's perception, there is a lesson to take away from the record. Although you may feel lost or alone, there are people who are trying to enter or impact your life, even when you may be too mentally withdrawn to notice. This is the overall meaning behind "A Chapter Lost In Us", and I appreciate you taking the time to listen!"

A Chapter Lost In Us

This is the 8th track and short but beautiful piano solo song included in '24 Piano Sketches' that is a new solo album from Yuki Murata, the Tokyo-based pianist/composer and member of the cinematic instrumental music band, Anoice, and its side projects, RiLF and Films.

As the name suggests, '24 Piano Sketches' includes 24 piano songs which Yuki Murata plays improvisations on her own grand and upright pianos. This long project is going to add 2 songs every month and ultimately 24 songs in one year, allowing the listeners to feel the changing of the season in real-time via the beautiful, warm, and sometimes melancholic piano sounds.

This time, she purposely selected a cassette tape recorder, a MiniDisc player, and an early generation of iPhone as the recording equipments for each song, unlike studio albums from her own bands such as Anoice. These retro and simplistic recording devices were able to capture not only a creaking noise coming from the piano and the environmental sounds outside the window, but also a noise occurred by cheap microphones, which make this album so impressive. Its nostalgic soundscape may remind her listeners of her first solo album 'Films' and second solo album 'Home'.

The photos taken by her bandmate of Anoice, Takahiro Kido, on his Polaroid camera every season, are adopted as the cover images of each single, and they will added together with the songs to the following BandCamp page every time a single is released.

It's been almost three months since "Abracadabra!" was released. I've been busy with some other projects since then, mainly recording and composing for clients. However, given how well "Abracadabra!" was received... we started working on the "sequel" :) 

Meanwhile, here is the title track that gave the name to the album.
