Irfan Rainy & Rex Leon Feat. Vaceo - It's Your World

The brand new vinyl 12" release to celebrate 25 Years Of Rainy City Music, the deeper underground dance music sound of Manchester is finally here. Our philosophy has always been to only release a few select recordings every year over the last 25 years to avoid the saturation of music / plastic pollution and thankfully we have managed to keep this policy since 1996.

This next release is especially unique having taken a full nine years from recording to manufacture to release due to long official licensing issues in waiting to meet Mutabaruka in person to do things by the book and also due to technical issues with the cutting of the twelve inch, but as they say special music has no shelf life.

All the recordings have created by Irfan Rainy and Simbad and feature the legendary Jamaican Dub Poet, musician, educator and talk-show host ' Mutabaruka ' on two compositions, one a brand track ' Catch, Loot, Steal ', written by Irfan Rainy & Muta, describing how the world has looted the resources of Africa. There are two versions, side A features a v dark electronic House music mix and a also rootsy modern Dub mix on the B side too.

Track two is a brand new rendition of Muta's classic 'Dis Poem', first released as a poem without any music in 1986 via the LP ' Mystery Unfolds' and then remixed unofficilally in 1990 by Bobby Konders for the Nu Groove label. It became a classic at the undeground House clubs worlwide, including the infamous Manchester nightclub, The Hacienda. This spiritual Acid House version by reggae Dj Konders reached a wider audience beyond the Dub Poetry world and has since been remixed by many others and is still being used illegally by producers all of the world today but here Irfan & Simbad have created a remix which in our opinion isbefitting this most well known poem that is now taught in poetry classes all over the world.

Also we have our first bday party of Community in Newcastle on Fri 27th March at World Headquarters and the 7th Community Mcr bday party in May 2015. Happy listening. Here's the promo snip of the new and fourth Pitched Black release via Manchester label Something In The Water ( SITW004 ). The vinyl only very limited run of 200 copies features two long compositions of deep electronic dance music with a cosmic disposition. 'The Road To Everywhere' follows the path of iconic electronic disco producer Patrick Cowley but then propels the groove into the psychedelic yet futuristic worlds of Aldous Huxley/ Philip K Dick and beyond. The track is 12min 44s long and builds towards the climax of the future. 
The second track 'We Are All Made Of Stars' highlights the ethereal side of the artist. The formation gently soothes and connects the human and the milky way to create intergalactic harmony.

After a few months delay in our release schedule the new LP by Irfan Rainy & Rex Leon 'Cross Step Drag' is finally here, offcially released digitally via TRAXSOURCE ON 30TH OCT 2015.
It's simply real Deep House music, the kind of House Music that does not fall into categories easily. The kind of House Music that Chip E, Farley, Marshall Jefferson, Timmy Regisford & Tommy Musto etc etc brought us in the mid 80s & we readily snapped it up. Those who know Manchester understand how our scene was pivotal in taking House Music from Chicago to our undeground & the rest in history. Fast forward to 2015 & real House Music takes everything

Manchester's Rainy City Music returns with it's first vinyl release after seven years and it's NOW AVAILABLE ON 12" !  Although the label which started in 96 has continued with digital only releases during this break it now returns with a brand new 12" single by DELE SOSIMI AFROBEAT ORCHESTRA' Too Much Information'. Dele the ex-keyboard player and arranger of Egypt 80, the group led by African music legend Fela Kuti gets the remix treatment by Berlin based Afro electronic artist MR RAOUL K and New York's Haitian artist JEPHTÉ GUILLAUME. Both remix artists are hugely respected in their respective underground scenes. 

Jephte's mix provides the calm yet subtle New York warmth. Think of Body & Soul on a sunday afternoon and a spiritual experience.

The Raoul K Transformation mix is simply a very cool yet huge peak time afro-electronic groove and has that natural crossover appeal.

The first release on Rainy City Music of 2016 will be a 4 track EP taken from our digital release LP of late last year for our vinyl fans. We have chosen 4 tracks, the A SIDE is the tribal house hypnotic groove VODUN ( THE CALLING ) & A2 is Fela Kuti inspired song 'Smash The Silence ( Afrobeat Power ). 
SIDE B kicks the very dark story of the troubled Inner city of the USA, influenced by the classic series The Wire called SNOOP'S STORY ( ODE THE WIRE ) and B2 concludes with the heavy tribal Dub House MANC UNION DUB.

P Black creates what we describe as soulful Techno. The Track COSMICOLOGY has that soft driving intergalactic space music theme. definitely inspired by the sound of Detroit. 
The B side is an older track written by Race Against Time about 10 years ago but rediscovered for our label. It's a subtle homage to Sun Ra's 'Rocket Number 9' but called 'Rocket Number 10'. The bassine is familar but after that it takes the groove to a whole other dimension. It too could be defined as cosmicology.

Having had a brotherly 25 year long music & friendship with him, I thought it was only right to play music that reminded of him without playing his tracks, which I will do on my radio show on Sunday 31st 7pm live on globalsoulradio.com.  This set features leftfield vintage Afro, African, Afrobeat, Afro Funk, Afro / Techno Dub, Roots House, Disco and Jazz Funk to remind you of the music taste and vibe of brother Phil. He knew all the classics but was also a curve ball DJ, throwing random yet super obscure quirky tracks, just to surprise the dancefloor, whether you liked it or not, he was a real DJ not a functional juke box one. NEXT vinyl release Rainy City Music / Freesound ( RCFSMUSIC ), the label of Mancunian Deep House producers Irfan Rainy & Rex Leon. The song by two stalwarts of real Deep House music - are Edinburgh's world class Dj CRAIG SMITH ( 6th Borough Project ) and top rated composer/vocalist RICKY REID. Both men are distinguished artists in their own right and I rate them as two of the best in the world. It's an honour for us to release their song and we have waited over 18 months to finally release it. We never release music by other artists, primarily because it's our own personal music gallery and NOT a business, like most labels tend to be. But very occassionally something special is given to us and we think we need to showcase it. 
Regards the original track; it's pure lush Deep House ! Myself and Rex Leon give it a darker Afro-Tech feel, to give you a bit more dissonance.

I'm a collector of groove music since 1986, the sound heard on the hip radio stations, record shops and clubs of Manchester ( my birthplace ), a place I helped to market simply as THE RAINY CITY since 1990 through deejaying on the club circuit in the city and even more so with my label RAINY CITY MUSIC since 1996. I've spent the last twenty plus years having fun producing House Music, Detroit influenced real Techno Music , Jazz, Latin, Brazilian music, Funk, Disco, Jazz Funk, African Music, Indian Music, film type soundtracks and Electronica etc etc. I've programmed hundreds of events and deejayed alongside many bands and in many underground clubs worldwide with so many of the greats in groove music, for example, with Questlove - The Roots, Tony Allen - the Afrobeat king, Norman Jay - Mr Rare Groove/Boogie, Roy Ayers, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Orlando Voorn - Detroit Techno/ Hip Hop DJ, Seu Jorge - City Of God, electro-funk maestro Greg Wilson and many of the top NYC Club Djs including Timmy Regisford, Joe Claussell & recently Danny Krivit at my party COMMUNITY in Manchester, now in it's in 8th year. I try to live, breathe and represent the artistic vibrations of groove music. My current resident party Community aim to highlight how dance music can be played with depth & variety without pandering to fads and show what real djs are  !
