With great enthusiasm I present to you the third album of my personal project "Iris Manta" entitled "Memoirs". This time I thought about temporarily setting aside matters which I had dealt with in my previous CDs, such as cosmic events of astronomical nature, equations, illusion or reality among others. Instead, I chose as a motive for my musical composition, various personal experiences, but mainly the changes which are brought about inside us in the course of time. Thus, each track involves a specific period of my life and narrates a short story of transition from one state to another.
I really feel lucky that I am able to express emotions through music and bring them out in public. However, what really pleases me about this album is the fact that I have also included melodies which I had written several years ago so as to be used in the future. Therefore this project becomes indeed a travel in time and talks about my life to this day.
The kind of music remains purely electronic since analog and digital synthesizers have been used, while the tracks are all instrumental. The sound is smooth, reminding of previous decades but without being exclusively of that time. Generally speaking, the style of music tends to be inclined towards electro-ambient.
"Memoirs" is a self-funded album and it circulates in both a digital form and online (Bandcamp, Spotify etc.) as well as in physical form CD-R (jewel case limited edition of 100 pieces).

A few years ago, in 2008, I had the idea to experiment in electronic music, trying something different from what I had been doing until then. At that time I was listening to a lot of psy trance / goa music, so I decided to compose something similar, but with my own identity. I was lucky enough to own the amazing Kurzweil K2500 synth/sampler and combined with the Lexicon MPX1 multi effect and the software synth Z3TA+ I started the project.

The result was the composition of 2 tracks where I used mostly sounds I created from scratch but also natural sounds that I sampled and altered on the Kurzweil. The style and mood is different from what I have produced so far on my last three albums, but quite satisfying since I managed to turn what I had in mind into sound.

So, today listening back to those 2 tracks from the past, I thought it would be a good idea to release an EP and include them. I mixed them again and here I am with the Wacko EP !

Iris Manta is the personal project of the founder and composer Manos Zafirakis, aiming at an effort of expressing, transmitting and imprinting ideas, feelings and images through music.
Manos Zafirakis began his musical journey 25 years ago starting with the classical guitar and taking his first steps in composition. In parallel, he attended guitar lessons, music theory and solfege. Later, along with four other musicians he founds the "Emerald" a group made up of a variety of instruments and music styles such as ethnic ,new age ,electronic, classical music etc.The "Emerald " release two albums, the "Under the veil of eternal Heaven" and "Images from a perfect passion" managing to receive particularly good reviews by the Media.
He then begins to engage in music programming, recording and sound mixing, resulting in the genesis of a ‘’love affair’’ with music technology, microphones, preamplifiers, effects, synthesizers and lots more. For the past 12 years he has been dealing with electronic music composition in an attempt to determine his own personal style.
The outcome of this style is the Iris Manta with the debut album "Mental equations". The basic influential source of the creator in the composition of the tracks is his profound love for space and the laws that determine it. Another thing worth mentioning is his engagement in Astronomy.
The Iris Manta music is purely electronic. It is the mixture of different sound colors that one can achieve owing to the infinite possibilities provided by synthesizers and effects. You can listen to the influences deriving from ambient, space ambient, dark ambient, synthwave, dreampop, but also darkwave
