This is the first workshop as part of a series developed by the Irish Humanities Alliance as a collaboration between it and Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, Maynooth University and University College Cork. Speakers include: Prof James Wilsdon (University of Sheffield), Prof Geoffrey Crossick (University of London and Director of the Arts & Humanities Research Council’s Cultural Value Project), Prof Nicholas Canny, (Emeritus Professor of History at the National University of Ireland, Galway) Niamh Brennan (TCD) and Michael O'Siochru (TCD), Prof Daniel Carey and Prof Jane Ohlmeyer (Director, Trinity Long Room Hub).


Impact and Research Metrics in the Arts and Humanities Workshop

On 11 December 2020, the Irish Humanities Alliance hosted a training event for humanities doctoral researchers across the island of Ireland.

IHA Doctoral Training Panel 2

Irish Humanities Alliance (IHA) was formed in September 2013. It is a joint initiative of Humanities researchers within eleven higher education and research institutions, including all of the universities, North and South, Dublin Institute of Technology and the Royal Irish Academy. The Alliance is working to generate public awareness of the importance of humanities teaching and research in higher education and society at large, and also to inform and shape public policy in both jurisdictions and in the EU. The Alliance has established working groups to address the main areas of strategy which impinge on the roles of the humanities in education and research today. Through these it will aim to engage productively with policymakers and funders in the wider interests of the university systems in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
