Iron Gate Sound -  Out Deh

Sizzla Kalonji, or simply Sizzla (was born Miguel Orlando Collins, April 17, 1976, Kingston, Jamaica) is one of the most commercially and critically successful contemporary reggae artists and is well-known for his above-average prolificacy.

Sizzla was born in Kingston in 1976 to devout Rastafari movement parents. Like them Sizzla subscribes to the Bobo Ashanti branch of the Rastafari movement. He was raised in August Town, Kingston Jamaica where he studied mechanical engineering at Dunoon High School.

The 1980s witnessed a dancehall explosion, and with the music came the lifestyle: drugs, guns, and "slackness" (vulgarity). Formally adopting the Rastafari faith, with its advocacy of repatriation to Africa, he joined the ranks of the Bobo Ashanti in the mid-1990s.

Sizzla began to develop his own style whilst serving his musical apprenticeship with the Caveman Hi-Fi sound system. He has used his music as a vehicle for his message, kickstarting his recording career in 1995 with a release through the Zagalou label, he then teamed up with "Bobby Digital" Dixon for a series of singles. Extensive touring with fellow roots and culture artist Luciano followed, earning Sizzla notability. 
Homer Harris, the same man who named and mentored Buju Banton got him his first break, introduced Sizzla to top Jamaican saxophonist Dean Fraser, the musical director for Philip "Fatis" Burrell's Xterminator Family. 1996 marked an important turning point for Sizzla when he began working with Fatis. This union led to a run of successful singles and the release of Sizzla's debut album, Burning Up. 
The two allied again a year later with the follow-up, Praise Ye Jah (JetStar). Praise Ye Jah was quickly trumped by his release of the Dixon-produced Black Woman &amp; Child that same year. The title track was a smash hit and became something of a cultural reggae anthem. Sizzla scored several more hits during 1997, including "Like Mountain," "Babylon Cowboy," "Kings of the Earth," and the Luciano duet "Build a Better World." This hot streak kicked off an enormously productive recording binge that lasted over the next several years, with much of his output still done for Burrell.

Along with universal praise came Sizzla's first nomination for Best International Reggae Artist of the Year at the 1998 MOBO Awards and a place in various magazines' top 100 albums of the year. Sizzla has since released several dozen albums, including 1998's Kalonji and Royal Son of Ethiopia from 1999. 1999 also saw him receive his second MOBO nomination. Sizzla remains a constant presence in the reggae charts worldwide. Currently, Sizzla has 21 albums that have made it onto the Billboard's Top Reggae Albums music chart, the highest Words of Truth, reaching the peak position of #5.

Sizzla Kalonji has released over 45 solo albums and over fifteen combination albums, crossing different genres of Reggae. He has started his own record company, Kalonji Records; which in a joint venture with Damon Dash Music Group and Koch Records, released the album, The Overstanding, in November 2006. This was his third album released through Kalonji Records; as well as Black History and Life.

Sizzla, along with reggae recording artists such as Capleton, Buju Banton, and Anthony B, are credited with leading a movement toward a re-embracement of Rastafarian values in contemporary reggae music by recording material which is concerned primarily with spirituality and social consciousness, explores common themes, such as Babylon's corrupting influence, the disenfranchisement of ghetto youth, oppression of the black nation and Sizzla's abiding faith in Jah and resistance against perceived agents of oppression.

Sizzla's 2008 effort, Ghetto Youth-ology, is produced by the Firehouse Crew, the same who produced Sizzla's debut, Burning Up.

Sizzla - Rise To The Occasion and Humble Thought medley (Long Time Riddim)

Gappy Ranks born and grown in Harlesden NW10. Father Jamaican, Mother Dominican, a good combination like Rice & Peas. Early support and recognition of this rising young talent who had made his studio debut with the Ruff Cutt band at age 11 came from local sound system operators and pirate radio stations and soon led to his link up and studio baptism with Stonebridge stars Suncycle Crew. The embers were soon burning and the young artist next landed a series of killer link ups with the likes of Kray Twinz, Twista and MC Lethal B. It was his initial hit for the legendary Peckings crew "Mountain Top" that really lit the blue touch paper and when the follow up "Heaven In My Eyes" bust Internationally Gappy found himself in the driving seat of an unstoppable rocket to stardom. 

“Stinking Rich” & “Rising Out The Ghetto” consolidated his success, his impact on the dancehall world mirroring fellow Londoner Amy Winehouse's revolutionizing of the world R&B scene. The release of his eagerly awaited Greensleeves album "Put The Stereo On" ups the ante to another level, the album sees Gappy completing his project with the Peckings crew, producers of Bitty McLeans classic “On Bond Street” album and like that best selling set, “Put The Stereo On” is launched on authorised versions from Studio One, Treasure Isle & Bunny Lee. Whether it's "as good as old" gems like the title track "Put The Stereo On" (a record so in-demand the dancehall government have had to step in to authorize it's immediate release), the straight to the heart romantic beat of "Happiest Day Of My Life" or the awesome word, sound & power of “Thy Shall Love” Gappy has it all under lock and key, he can sing like Tarrus and spit lyrics like Kartel and displays this stunning versatility both on stage and in the studio. 

"Put The Stereo On”" is already being touted as reggae album of 2010 but it's ambition doesn't stop there, it's a genre defining classic with a pre-release buzz that is already enjoying high profile reach outside of the traditional market. Gappy is also proving to be one of the most popular live draws on the planet, headlining shows across Europe, Asia & the USA and is currently lined up for upcoming festival appearances at Glastonbury, Rototom & the Atlanta Summer Festival. First single taken from the Upcoming "Different Hours" EP

Sydney collective Iron Gate Sound come in heavy with Wickedest, the first cut off their forthcoming EP. Making a name for themselves online, Iron Gate Sound have developed a strong following dropping mixtapes, mashups and dubs from some of the biggest names in Jamaican music. With this release, the long-time stalwarts of the Sydney reggae-dancehall scene find themselves diving deep into hard-hitting UK grime and dubstep influences.

Wickedest features the magnetic vocals of the UK’s RTkal, commanding with energy and unrivaled flair over solid basslines and heavy industrial drums. The grimey production shows a new direction for original Iron Gate Sound members Flip and Gilsun, now officially joined by long-time friend & collaborator Kid Fiction. “The UK grime and dubstep sound has always been a big part of what we do, especially in our live shows”, says Gilsun, “producing an EP focused on that sound and working with vocalists of this caliber has been an incredible experience for us”. 

The release also marks the return of Iron Gate Records, an Australian imprint that has already worked with some of the biggest names in reggae and dancehall such as Sizzla and Lutan Fyah on the 2014 Lion Inna Den riddim release.
The Different Hours EP will drop in late 2019 and features collaborations with vocalists from the UK and Jamaica including Chiedu Oraka, Juiceman and dub poet Michael St George.
