For the latest installment in its catalog, Iron Shirt Recordings has turned to fellow New Zealand natives, Morrison.  The duo, with a sound signified by pristine sound design and an attention to melody, has stepped up in a large way to provide this two-sider for IRON20.  ‘Terra’ eases into the experience with percussive mutterings of organic evolution and the establishment of a lush stab taken straight from the age of analogue.  This climate is matched by fluid percussion, which calmly ebbs and flows along to the coy rhythms set by reverberant hi-hats and block hits.  Beneath all of this, a solid sub bass lays a reliable foundation for the surrounding bloom; no frills, only pure weight.   ‘Rainfade’ immediately picks up on a similar atmospheric tip, with an added murkiness that is typified by a morphing dub delay and gloomy design.  This gives way to a relentless reign of percussion as a medley of hi-hats, shakers, clicks, and rimshots provide for a chilly rhythm above the once again steadfast sub pressure.  For those unfamiliar with Morrison, this release serves as a perfect illustration of the intricacy with which the duo approaches production after production. - Drooka

After a year of curating we are honored to finally unveil an offering pulled from the depths of our ancient Cimmerian vaults. We have our third compilation album "Cimmerian Volume 3" joining the catalogue for CR020. Filled with 12 stellar tracks from new and returning faces to the label.
This collection of Dubstep/140 is an alluring chronicle of hypnotic rhythms woven together by velvety melodies that enchants listeners and awakens something profound and primal within.

“Intro” by Valloa opens the door, inviting us into the deep, provoking intrigue. This suspense is built upon with “Roots” by label head Kilbourne , appropriately named as a pristine representation of the label’s fundamental sound. “Choose the Sword” is brought to us by Mystic State and tells a mesmerizing story that balances the character of this collection. Sundog then joins us with “Echoes”, bringing a grounding, organic element. LSN & Joe Nice feature bewitching vocals from Aporetic in “Sonic Corridor”, delivering the powerful message of Land Back and unity. “Seeker” by Daega Sound comes in haunting and unapologetic. Then Darkai joins us with “The Tempest” which transports us to an earthy realm of dubstep with a composition of lush layers. “Cobble” follows this mode, pinning us down with a wave of rippling bass, brought to us by Kami-O. “No Hands” is brought to us by Sadan, this one is dancefloor focused, meeting us at the depths. Saraphim then fulfills their promise with Rakjay on vocals by hitting the target with “Marksmen". “Broken Bridge” brightens the lower end of the album’s sound with another dancefloor focused track featuring eclectic drums and high energy bass . Finally, Leland River brings us to the precipice with “Amnesia”, a cathartic track that sails us home.

The album is mythical and explorative with dense elemental motifs that elevate the fundamentals of dubstep whilst pulling listeners into the understated fluidity of sound that makes Cimmerian Records distinctive. This new wave washes listeners in deep bass, leaving little room to come up for air before surrendering to the safe, seductive sound that laces the foundations of our label. This compilation is a beautiful portrayal of the intricate power of a story told by many voices.

Wolf'd - This Way EP (JT007)

Stepping into the next digital release, we have the big bad 'Wolf'd' taking control, with collaborations from boss man 'Darkai' and bass innovator 'Relativity Lounge'.

Wolf'd starts off the 4 track EP with growler by the name of 'Rejection Dub'. Deep sub movement, accompanied with warm percussive impressions that reciprocate a tough rasping lead. 

Track 2 'Divine Gift', with dubstep heavy weight 'Darkai', pulls out the big guns, revolving around unearthly sound manipulation and pummelling leads, punishing the frequency spectrum to craft a production that continues to detonate as it unfolds.

Wolf'd's collaboration with Relativity Lounge on track 3 - 'Distracted' is a culmination of Wolf'd's thick sound pallet and RL's more alternative style of dark electronica. The tracks slower 130bpm template opens up a more experimental pallet, bursting and retracting rich sonic expressions, fortifying itself with intricate breaks whilst being led by a pulsating melodic tone varying in expression.

The title track 'This Way' rounds off the EP, stripping back to minimalism and space, consisting of an eerie vocal taunt, atmospheric FX's and a ruff and tuff sub line.

'This Way EP',will be available exclusively via Bandcamp on the 26th of April, followed by a full release on all platforms on the 3rd of May.
