Tell Me Tonight

Well, the run of Interbay tracks with titles starting with the letter "M" had to end sometime--and it might as well have been after the Seattle Mariners lost their first MLB playoff game in extra innings.  (Would I have instead posted another track that started with an "M" if they'd won?  Probably... )  

It is part of the deep Interbay lore that not only is Interbay basically just me producing music on a laptop, but it is also a time-traveling band that has played everything everywhere...  (This is Interbay, things don't really make sense...ever.)  This is an example of letting the latter idea out of its cage and giving it permission to run free.

So, we find ourselves in a cheesy cocktail lounge, all dressed up in a 1960s NASA theme, with a velvet jacketed Master of Ceremonies, introducing a smooth jazzy lounge band performing for the entertainment of the fabulous people who are schmoozing and canoodling this evening.  

If you ask me where the idea for the Re-Entry Lounge came from--the only thing I could tell you was my love of the early years of Saturday Night Live (remember, I'm an old--I watched them when they first ran...gulp), and Bill Murray's cheesy lounge singer (Nick) who came up with his own words for the Star Wars theme (with Paul Shaffer on piano.)    Instead of Nick performing at Meatloaf Mountain ski resort, we have Johnny Dynamite introducing Interbay at the Re-Entry Lounge.  

(No, it doesn't explain all the details of this Interbay track--but I'm not sure why you'd expect me to know how my brain works its way to whatever it is I do.)  

So, this track has female vocals, jazzy drums, synth bass, melodica (?!?) for a bit of a French feel, jazz guitar...and a tasty selection of cheese.  

I have always said that Interbay can be anything (dependent on my ability to make it work.)  So, it shouldn't surprise you that I've come up with some cocktail lounge jazz, and yet it still somehow sounds very much like Interbay.  

I think this has a nice Sunday evening vibe to it...and I hope that you listen to it, like it if you do, repost it, share it, comment on it, add it to a playlist, and follow this page for even more Interbay (and it is extremely unlikely that tomorrow's track will sound anything like today's track--but you never know!)  

(...and, there's just a hint of spookiness in this track, as the vocals get more haunting as the song goes on.  I'm getting ready for this year's spooky week--though, it's harder than I thought to do this now, as Seattle is rather surprisingly sunny at the moment.)
