SOUL TIME 16

This week's special guest is Sean Benton, a talented DJ and radio host with his finger firmly on the pulse of disco.

Hailing from Birmingham although he has called the North West his home for over 20 years, Sean’s DJ career started way back in the very early 90s, playing a variety of different bars & clubs. From this, a residency at Bakers Nightclub, one of the forerunners of the house music scene in the second city ensued and he continued hone his craft. 

Having then spent 4 years DJing in both Greece & the Canaries, in 1997 he hung up his headphones for nearly 20 year and had a massive hiatus away from that side of the music scene.

Since starting back in 2016, Sean embraced the emerging Disco / House sound and having always had a love for all things 70’s & 80’s disco, started to source edits as he developed his newfound love for DJing again.

Over the last 6 years, Sean has built a reputation through his radio shows, initially with Influx Radio and the lure of NDC Radio was too much to turn down and he has hosted the Sundessential Disco show for the last 18 months. He also co-hosts The Spin on Radio Warrington which as well as having a massive following, puts on hugely successful live broadcast shows in his hometown of Warrington. He has also developed his ‘Some Kinda Disco’ branded nights which he hosts with his DJing partner in crime Christian Reilly under their ‘Play Something’ moniker.

The festival is where Sean most recently likes to ply his trade, with Beat-Herder & Creamfields his regular haunts as well as appearances Neighbourhood Weekender & U Know Festival. Also being involved with the events side of NDC Radio, Sean has been instrumental in setting up NDC events at ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event).

Iry Sabir is a Yorkshire based DJ who has been around the scene for over 20 years. He started to play in 2002 until 2008 & then put things on hold to raise his family. It wasn't until 2019 where he started to pick things back up & he's slowly built up his reputation with a number of mixes ranging from Soulful House, Nu Disco, Groove, Funk, Lounge & New Retro Wave. He's done a number of Guest Mixes such as Black Light Disco, Magic Track, Discotheque, HAWT, Feel Good Fridays & Disco Waltons. DJ since the early´s 80´s, I start DJing in bars (No Sense) then in Clubs (Resident DJ at Lux and KoolKat) and also hosting some Radio shows..
After 10 years, stopped mixing professionally. 
Influenced by the harmonic sound, beat and groove of Jazz, Soul, Funk and Disco music since very young.
Nowadays House Music is my preference but never forgetting that (old) sound that influenced all those new ones.
