Listening to this (even six years after you made it), an idea just hit me concerning machine intelligence, where it keeps a record of its reasoning, and where it shows us its proposed solution, meaning its proposed action, meaning before it acts. This will preclude things like 'exterminate all humans', and it will give humans a means to discover their own fatal problems (like philosophical cluelessness), and a chance to correct their own problems (like getting a clue, in this case adopting the mindset of broader survival).
