Wow, I'm really impressed by this! I love the distorted, ominous feel this recording has. It definitely reminds me of "Dorm Art (Forest)" too! I think it's also super cool how you added additional reverb onto the recording. Did you use Garageband to do this?

The reverb almost sounds like speech, which lends it an air of creepiness. It really recontextualizes the sound and gives it a new meaning, which is really cool. Nice work!

I think it's really cool what you did with this recording! I'm interpreting this as like a zoomed in version of the air vent... if that makes sense. Man-made things are a lot more complex than what they appear to us so it's cool that you brought out the different layers.The spooky vibes are real.

Wow, super cool! I love how this audio captures this really creepy and eery vibe. What are those sounds at the beginning? An elevator or generator? What is cool about this audio is that it sounds like the AC generator or something is creating and f# minor chord. That might just be me. Overall, creepy and spooky, but really captivated my attention.

This was recorded on my floor in my apartment building just outside the emergency exit. With this, I was really inspired by Stephen Vitiello's, "Dorm Art (Forest)". That recording is a modified recording of a forest. I took the sound of a vent just outside the emergency exit, that I noticed was absolutely roaring when you stand underneath it, and initially tried to reduce the amount of noise in the recording. I really enjoyed that sound, as it emphasized the lows of the AC by itself. Then, I added reverb and messed with it to see if I could excite those lows a little more.

The Distorted Sound of an Apartment Building

This song includes pieces of many field recordings that were taken throughout the Spring quarter. Vocals were also layered into the piece. This project is a response to the civil rights discourse happening all over the world.  As we begin to finally erode the surface of complicity within the unacceptable, collective ignorant bliss of white American society, we must furthermore face and dismantle the bloodstained pride that lies underneath.  No matter how awake we become, here, too, our awareness must lie.

Using A Korg MS20 mini's filters, many iPhone recordings from around the house/neighborhood, a secret found sound, and a shii ton of digital reverb. Also white/pink noise from the Korg MS20.--white/pink noise bring so much life to recordings.

Final - How I Closed my Mind

Here is my final project, comprised mostly of self-recorded tracks, field recording of the ocean from one of our assignments, and an excerpt from an Angela Davis speech at UC Davis in 2007.

Imagination (Final Project)

Hello Everyone. This is my piece called La Strada Degli Schizzi. The main inspiration of this piece comes from "Islas resonantes" by Eliane Radigue. I wanted to somehow morph the sounds of the early morning streets into the fizzing drifts of the ocean waves without making the shift very obvious. This type of process piece required really precise choices in volume automation and the overlapping of the samples. In order to limit myself to a modest set of materials and techniques, everything in the track is pure, raw recordings, except for the drone which is a raw recording of my heartbeat with some ring modulation. The ocean wave sounds were recorded with a Zoom H4N, the early morning streets were recorded with an iPhone 7+, and the heartbeat was recorded with a Rode NTA1.
