Reaching out
For fingers in the dark,
As if to hold the future’s hand
Feeling for some signal
For friendship or reassurance
While walking 
Towards a place
That does not yet exist

I turn my searching gaze
From what horizon’s hide
Towards those ardent inner reachings
Seeking to feel 
The warmth that tracks
A path towards life

A place to gather
With care, where the arrogance of knowledge
Falls from faces lit by a flicker
That can only grow so bright
On the most humbling of nights.

There, the wisdom lives,
How to walk together, day by day
With room for dreams, with all their promise
To stand by the needs of the day,
Neither asking the other to sacrifice their nature.
Around that blaze I remembered
And told the story of how I got there:

I tried to banish Uncertainty.
For awhile I thought she was gone forever,
So I didn’t recognize her when she returned, 
Dressed in such grand attire
Speaking with such eloquence
And moving with such wild grace,
I became so attentive to her spectacular nature,
I forgot to wonder what would become of us,
And fell in love instead.
