Tim Smith (a.k.a. Timmy Trumpet) is a musician, main room house DJ and producer based in Sydney. Smith made his big break in Ibiza; playing live trumpet solos over electronic dance music tracks during DJs shows.

He has supported and played alongside acts like Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox, Fedde le Grand, Dizzee Rascal, Fatboy Slim and the Stafford Brothers. Timmy is also a regular character on the FOX8 reality TV show The Stafford Brothers.

Timmy Trumpet has successfully transitioned from the international stage as an acclaimed Jazz musician to the realm of global dance music. Now as a combined DJ/Instrumentalist, he's ranked in the top 3 DJ's in Australia (ITM Poll), performed at Ibiza's Pacha and Miami's WMC, and mixed both Ministry of Sound and Pacha CD's. Signed to Ministry of Sound, his last 3 singles have all reached the No. 1 spot on the Aria Club chart. Freaks is signed to PM Recordings for Benelux!

Timmy Trumpet is the No. 2 ranked DJ in Australia according to the 2014 inthemix DJ Awards.

Skinny Love by Bon Iver, and the whole For Emma Forever Ago album come to think of it, is absolutely spectacular.

Some people don't take well to it being remixed, but this particular track was one of the the most therapeutic remixes/bootlegs I've had the pleasure of making.

I decided to sit down and make some music that would reflect a bit more of a calm side to me. I was listening to the original track, threw it in my DAW and threw down some crushy destroyed drums under it to get a feel for where to start, and then it just flowed from that point on.

It's not exactly what you'd expect, which has really become what I like doing - surprises.

This was another marathon production binge, which seems to be how I work best.

We always gloat that we love all styles of house music. What that means changes from person to person depending on what you think 'House Music' is but at the end of the day, its up to you. Another word that gets thrown around a lot is TECHNO. Again what is Techno?

NiQW is the man that blurs the lines between house and techno. He confuses the biggest of CHIN STROKERS. The creative freedom he gives himself is amazing and in our eyes is an advocate for what it means to be an ARTIST.

His latest track My Beets featuring the amazing Color, is a journey in all things EUPHORIA. From arps interconnecting together, lush delays and a vocal hook 'My Beets wont control themselves', you instantly fall in love with the mood he creates. Dont worry, Nik has also added his signature big synth moments just for you.

When NiQW said Little By Little & Das Kapital were on board to remix, it was a no brainer! Two artist we respect so much and we were not disappointed. These remixes both compliment what Nik has put down.

Manchester seems to be going through somewhat of a bass revolution at the moment, with a number of names heading towards the forefront of the UK wide scene. However, it's the the projects on the ground that are seriously reaffirming the cities incredible musical background, projects such as the forward thinking bass imprint: Night Shift Sound, a Project we have seen put together of incredible projects over the years, hitting out most recently with this, the fourth edition of their 'Northern Power House' compilation series.

This is most definitely somewhat of a monumental project, as the NSS team unveil a host of new names to the roster, such as local high flyers Cozen and J69 along with high profile returns to the label from the likes of Murder He Wrote and GHSTGHSTGHST. The total tracklisting consists of 15 recordings, with tracks such as DJ Cable's 'Get Mad' remix with Serocee and Metro Club along with Tewax's 'Brain Charge' proving to be instant favourites

It's the variation of this release that we are very pleased to see, with the whole of Manchester's extensive bass music scene finding representation across these 15 creations, and a balance of variation and consistency seems to be the hardest thing to do when it comes to putting together a VA compilation these days.

We are here on this fine Friday to bring you an exclusive premiere from the compilation as South Africa's own house and bass wizard: Das Kapital emerges to get busy with his very exciting rework of 'I Cud Love' from GHSTGHSTGHST and Olivia Louise. The original recording went down an absolutely treat and Das has done everything and more to pay homage to that with his very crunchy UKG inspired design, showcasing Olivia's stunning vocal presence with emotive breakdowns in between soulful synth riffs and breathy chord progressions...
