A journey into the crazy mind.

This first track is all about shadow work. I sampled the vocals from  "Daisy" by Ashnikko and created essentially a story that follows the crazy mind. In the beginning it is simple and repetitive with sultry female vocals that are intended to simultaneously provoke a sense of attraction and fear. The words ring out "Not this again!" as the sequence repeats once more. Following this we have a sense of calm and reflection that launches into a sonic jungle introducing more chaos and complexity as we get a sense of some beast or monster being held back lurching forward attempting to break free. After this tension builds there is the declaration "I Bite Back!" as the animal is unleashed in a manic flurry.

It's rare I have favorites, because you know, rainbows don't choose a favorite color... But(t), "La Quête" (The Quest) by Jacques Brel gets my heart beating like a wagging puppy with stars in the eyes! I love it because, to me, it embodies all of the sutras (i.e. the mantras of a holy life in a world gone bananas), as clear as Brel is true—to explore and share what matters with curiosity and courage, to play and learn with unyielding joy and empathy,  to trust and appreciate the humility and grace of GLOWsutra, we must first learn to love, lose, laugh, and loop around. Namely, we must live through KNOWsutra, BLOWsutra, SHOWsutra, GROWsutra and FLOWsutra... until the ultimate, glorious #blessedbe daze of BOWsutra <3

As 2020 comes to close we are taking stock of life as it compares to a year ago. Nothing was as it seemed then, and likely nothing is now either. We are all deep inside a massive collective psychedelic journey. Good trip bad trip, all our paths overlap. 

On our new album, out now, we explore the idea that we are at the crux of a significant leg of this journey.  Like that moment in most every trip when you are faced with a fear or anxiety and must make a decision on how to proceed, the crux presents both crisis and opportunity.

The featured track here, "Common Ground” is about finding a place for us all to meet in these divisive times in hopes that we can unify and find a path forward.

Cooperation, communication and dialogue are key to unity and resilience.

On the Crux album we are taking musical chances. Some of the most personal songs we’ve written mixed with raw sketched out ideas, to full blown improvised compositions. This is our way of processing the radical changes that have become routine for all of us. This album represents our subconscious hopes and fears for the time ahead.
