Built by friends, for friends, Otium District is an event promoter and now record label out of Switzerland. After throwing down memorable parties in the woods, disused buildings, bridges, we’ve had the chance to host several club events in Geneva, Switzerland, allowing us to further evolve and develop as a collective in the scene. After a successful launch of our own imprint last year, with an EP and a VA, we're overly thrilled to bring you today our latest release : the new Otium Records Various Artists, or ORVA002.

Blending modern and older producing styles, clean and dirty texture, grooves from all eras with a very humble and respectful approach to the music, this various artist represents us in a way that is very close to our heart. Featuring tracks from our collective's artists, as well as young, talented and carefully chosen new additions, we feel this proper techno release is just right to end the year with a BANG. Either for your DJ playlist, or music repertoire, we hope this carefully assembled various artists will move you as much as it moved us.

PREMIERE: Specific Objects - Vladimir On The Gallows (OTIUM Records)

We’ve got another funk soaked techno groove to round off a solid week of new music on Four Four. Chlär steps up to remix Alec Dienaar on Deadline Records, and the Swiss groove maestro is once again proving that he is one of the most clinical and prolific techno producers on the planet right now.

Deadline Records present their first EP as a label following, a strong debut VA with tracks from The Chronics, Nicolas Volger, Specific Objects and more. The first EP ‘Perpetual Groove’ comes from Alec Dienaar, a fresh new name in the techno scene.

Alec is a young talented producer and DJ based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. His unique style can be described as groovy, funky with an old school touch. You can hear his passion through out his sound as he likes to sample old tracks turning it into a new track. His inspiration comes a lot from the late 90s and early 2000s.

With his groovy percussions, dirty basslines and unique chords, you will he is most definitely setting himself apart from the crowd. Also included are Remixes from Chlär, Hyden, Maxx Rossi and Versus.

Chlär‘s remix is just what you can expect from the Berlin based techno wizz kid. Chlär calls on thriving bass grooves, prickly chord stabs and rolling percussive rhythms. This is proper techno.

To shape modern-day sound while paying homage to the old days. An ethos that has always been at the core of Frenzy as a community, event organizer, and record label. Through this second VA release, Frenzy seeks to extend its exploration of the ‘now’ and the ‘then’ with a double vinyl release with no less than 12 tracks representing their trademark sound. Buckle up - it’s time to step into the time machine of speed and light.

The vibey A-side starts with a bang by the dynamic Swiss/Italian duo Funk Assault (Chlär & Alarico) followed by uplifting, lighthearted productions by Amsterdam’s finest Undivulged and Lobster. On the B-side, local talent Levzon kicks it off with a playful melody-led groover, while Nicolas Vogler gets into the rhythmic drums and Ruiz OSC1 delivers an aquatic dub workout.

Heavyweight TWR72 introduces the C-side in full effect with a hypnotic, driving tension builder, followed by a wonky looped-out production by Hemka. Insolate is the perfect final addition to this side with a steady minimalist puncher for the in-between energy shifts. The D-side takes off at stellar speed with Cravo, raising the peak hour pressure. Jannik Abfalg channels the energy to more bright scenery as ANNĒ completes the record in style with a vocal-induced trip through early morning dancefloor freshness.

To go full circle, the release is accompanied by four digital-only bonus tracks by none other than Antic Soul, Edvvin, JSPRV35, and Hyden. Productions balance in-between stripped-down rhythms and heavy-duty rollers, showcasing what Frenzy is all about. The full digital album comes for free with the purchase of the vinyl release.

Stripped-down grooves, varying speeds, pulsating bass lines - this FRNZYVA002 is all killer no filler. Please note that this is a limited edition release that can be ordered via Bandcamp or your favourite record distributors.
