ce que je veux encore c’est du flow des mots, du rap sale en concerto
texte cristal, rappeur qui chante du diamant dans les métros
lyriciste orfèvre, te met la fièvre avec des propos vandales
devant l’Élysée en short sandales, Hip Hop vida loca
toujours au calme, à l’aise un peu partout donc toujours local
pertinent comme une punchline qui résonne sur tous les continents
assassin de la police, KRS One lui renvoie le compliment
fait pas de sentiment, il pique les yeux par des images piments
alimente l’intellect, avec sa rage t’interpelle
toujours dans l’urgence, ses interludes sont pas des intermèdes
rien à foutre d’être anobli, sauvage accompli
le MC qu’on veut encore, il sort quand le ciel s’assombrit
te donne des frissons, son verbe ne connait pas la cuisson de la langue de bois
cause tellement cru, dans son accent, il y a une mauvaise diction
c’est ça ce qu’on est et me corrige pas les fautes que je connais
du Molière dans mes toiles sociales, j’impressionne comme Monnet

Brownswood Recordings and The Steve Reid Foundation celebrate the life and spirit of one of the world’s greatest jazz drummers – Steve Reid – via a deluxe 12” featuring a brand new interpretation of the classic ‘Lions Of Judah’ by emanative & Ahmed Abdullah backed with a Four Tet re-edit. 

Steve Reid was an amazing drummer with a long and illustrious history that stretched from working with James Brown, Miles Davis and Fela Kuti through to his own Steve Reid Trio and more recently working with Kieran Hebden (Four Tet). He died from throat cancer in the US in April 2010 without the money for treatment that could have saved his life. 

The Steve Reid Foundation was established by Gilles Peterson in memory of his friend. The aims of the foundation are to fundraise on behalf of struggling musicians in need of help and support. All profits from the sale of the ‘Lions Of Judah’ 12” will go to the foundation.

Upon return from a recent trip to the deepest of crates in Colombia, Cut Chemist and Beats of All-Nations sought out to remix a unique set of dusty records, each different from the last, with an equally diverse list of producers. Going Back to Cali: Cut Chemist’s Colombian Crates Remixed is MORE THAN CUMBIA, its a reflection on a tropical culture rich in spirit, creativity and passion strung together with field recordings found along the way. These records were bought in Cali, Colombia during Patronio Alvarez Festival last year, hence the name. 

Our trip begins with folklore Colombiano favorites Los Corraleros de Majagual over a crunchy boom-bap by Co. Fee from Los Angeles’ beat collective, My Hollow Drum. Dance Kill Move (Stockholm, Sweden) adds some serious low end to Los Jovenes de Hierro’s classic charanga, “Ritmo Sabroso.” Ubiquity recording artist, currently residing in Colobmia, Bosq and Yukicito of La Junta (Los Angeles) contribute absolute party starters, while El Dusty’s “Mi Chola” give Los Teen Agers a taste Corpus Christi, TX. Atropolis (Queens) pays homage with a heavy stripped down edit of Julio y su Combo’s “Lamento Cumbiambero” and Los Chicos Altos (Barcelona) add in some rub-a-dub flavor on Los Hermanos Tuiran’s “Lluvia.” In addition we explore national treasures and the lesser known, new styles of chirimía, porro, pachanga, salsa and cumbia as interpreted by Sumohair (Los Angeles), Gabe Real (Pomona CA) and Greece duo SUPERSAN (aka Panama Cardoon & Mister Centro).
