Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) uses pulses of light and sound at specific frequencies to gently guide the brain into various brainwave patterns. By altering your brainwave frequencies, it is possible to impact mood, focus, sleep patterns, cognition etc.

This live set is a brief sonic excursion from Delta to Beta frequencies (1HZ - 30HZ) with the aim of investigating what the effects of AVE could be away from its formal (clinical) use and presented in the context of a cultural experience.

Chijō no 地上の

Arpegiyo was conceived by Harper through a collaboration with Leonie DuBarry-Gurr, Luke Broughton, David Conrad Dhonau, and Matt Rogerson when they received an invitation to perform at the Islington Assembly Rooms in London on April 22nd.

This rendition is the Beatless AVE version, recorded using binaural frequencies spanning Delta, Theta, and Alpha ranges. The auditory experience is complemented by visually immersive content crafted with Touchdesigner & Ableton.

Rooted in Harper’s heritage, "Arpegiyo" finds its origin in Hindu, translating the essence of "arpeggio" from the Italian "arpeggiare," signifying "to play on a harp."

Vocals from Leonie DG which I’ve converted to binaural audio.  These range from Delta frequencies ~ 3.5Hz to Alpha frequencies ~ 11Hz.   The visual were built in Touchdesigner and continues my theme of experimental Audio-visual entrainment. (AVE is a subset of brainwave entrainment, uses flashes of lights and pulses of tones to guide the brain into various states of brainwave activity).

The audience members were effectively agreeing to be collectively hypnotised.  Essentially what our government, the mass media etc are already doing to us on a daily basis  - the fundamental difference is that the underlying message shifts from a fear to love.

Whensong (AJH Remix)

Nimbus: an album remixed.

Nimbus is a collection of unheard Dayflower music reworked and woven into a gleaming, expansive technoscape by audiovisual artist Andy Harper aka AJH / @isandyharper. 

A deeply immersive, long-form trip of this kind is unexplored territory for a band usually associated with snappy (often densely layered) singles. Yet as a whole the mixtape gracefully expands on Dayflower's recognisable, dreamy aesthetic while never quite leaving it behind.

The project fits well into Harper's wider artistic practice which often the explores the intersection of nature and technology. He has developed an in-depth generative process whereby the audio informs the creation of visuals and results in a sense of 'floating high in a digital landscape drenched in light, a journey into the unknown, to the clouds and beyond...'

"Primal Power" is an immersive exploration of primal energy - the raw, unbridled force that lies within each of us.  The droning quality of the harmonium from @Zeropence establishes a solid grounding foundation and a sense of continuous vibration, representing the ever-present pulse of primal energy. Looped and feedback-distorted vocals add a layer of raw emotion, symbolising the untamed expression of emotions that reside beneath the surface.  

AJH's sub bass is the pulsating presence, acting as a physical counterpoint to the ethereal drone and representing the raw power and intensity of primal energy.  This combination of elements creates a hypnotic soundscape, drawing the listener inwards. The distorted vocals, interspersed within the drone, will serve as jolts of raw emotion, forcing the listener to confront their own primal power.  By confronting the raw power within ourselves, we can gain a deeper understanding of who we are.
