We are delighted to announce our new Nightime Drama podcast series. We have carefully selected artists for the podcast who's sound we are passionate about. Our first guest for the series hails from Zurich, Switzerland, DJ Eli Verviene. Eli graced our shores down under in 2013 and again in 2014 playing at both Nightime Drama in Adelaide and 4our in Sydney.

Elis approach to djing is to tell her story through her sets, ensuring a diversity of genres, a warm energy and a style that is her own. Recording mixes in the past for the mnml ssgs blog and Resident Advisor, both of which she garnered enthusiastic responses, Eli has now recorded a mix for us at Nightime Drama. A wonderful deep mix with minimal, deep house and techno elements that you will want to play over and over. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

1) Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Most definitely a night owl!

2) What is your home city and what makes it special?

Zurich is such a lovely city, which has a lot to offer for its size. Located at a beautiful lake surrounded by snowy mountains.

 3) The term DJ's DJ gets thrown around a lot these days, who is your DJ's DJ?

Daniel Bell

 4) What first comes to mind when you think of electronic music in Australia?

Well, most definitely a vivid and colourful underground scene created by passionate people. Even though, unfortunately, people on my side of the planet are not aware it. 

Ahead of my first visit in OZ, I didn't know what to expect. What a great surprise it was, to meet so many like-minded people which are so passionate about what they are doing. Not to forget that you have, in my opinion, one of the best record stores in the world in Adelaide - "Transition Records". Despite its relatively small size, the selection is exceptionally and it is impossible to leave the store without a gem.I truly hope that Australia's electronic underground scene will get its well deserved recognition.

5) What has been the stand out track that you've playing this month?

Autechre - Incunabula

It`s not a track but a whole album I have to mention. I've been waiting many years to have this gem on vinyl and now now it finally got re-pressed.

Barbara Preisinger has been an integral part of the Berlin club scene since moving from
Munich in the late 90s. In 2009 she launched her vinyl label SLICES OF LIFE.

Barbara Preisinger first began dj-ing in 1996 in her hometown of Munich and was soon playing regularly at the green flokati room of the "ultraschall" club. in the Summer of 1998 Barbara left Munich for Berlin, where she started working as a freelance press and radio promoter for electronic music. In the years that followed she represented various labels and acts from the experimental music scene, ranging from straight clubsounds to electronic pop and indie-electronia. 
1999 saw her co-found the label ˜scape, together with Stefan Betke aka Pole, creating an open platform for the productions of Kit Clayton, Jan Jelinek, Deadbeat, Pole amongst many others. Before long she was a resident dj at regular scape nights in berlin and other locations within europe, japan and also further afield in north america. 
Her passion is to play for the dancefloor, mixing kicking house and deep techno all the while remaining open towards interesting and outstanding tunes that makes you move. And she has been doing exactly that at many prestigious location around the globe in recent years, including festivals as Sonar, Benicassim, DEMF, Club Transmediale Berlin, Mutek, Mutek Chile, SOCO Monteviedeo, Unsound Festival New York and Poland, Todays Art .....to mention but a few. 

Autumn 2009 Barbara Preisinger launched the 12inch vinyl label SLICES OF LIFE where she is releasing music by friends and relatet artists like Betke, Mike Huckaby, The Mole, Baaz, John Tejada....
