Another one off my 12" for Scribble Records. This time featuring the amazing Adi Dick from NZ on vocals, and some more sweet trumpet lines from Matthew Halsall.

Another tune off my Scribble Records 12". Wanted to do a crazy jazz number, so went all out on it...trumpet sampled from a Clifford Brown tune, off his album with Max Roach - "Live at Basin Street".

Unfortunately I blew my nice Tannoy monitors at my New Years party (never try and DJ when you're THAT drunk), so if there's anything in the mix that sounds weird, you wanna see what I've been doing the mixdown on - a pair of crappy little PC speakers and some well dodgy headphones. Anyways, think I just about managed. Don't know what style this is - bit of everything, as per usual...but I definitely got on a Doors type buzz for the outro, drifted off into the desert for a bit.

I Can See - Jazzanova (Ishfaq's busted speaker remix)

Decided to challenge myself by making a tune using only the sounds from the Smithsonian's "Encyclopaedia of Life" recordings. So everything you hear was made purely from the source files - a collection of field recordings of animal sounds. No other sound sources were used. All done in Maschine/Cubase, with a little Kaoss Pad thrown in at the end for good measure.

Bit of a last minute entry to the CDR Dimensions competition - I was away on holiday til 2 days ago (glad they extended the deadline). 

Done in Cubase/Maschine - basically just the samples below, plus an extra kick and a Novation Basstation 2. Just messed around with it til something started sounding good :-)

This a my complete reworking of O.Boogie's "Underwhere". I used the samples he used to make the original and did this track from scratch with them. Went all Carlos Santana on the end section. Features some lovely sounds from my RITM-2 Russian synth that died shortly after - may he rest in peace...

Don't think this ended up getting released in the end. If you want it download enabled, I'll need to ask him first...

This is a remix I did for a 12" coming out this November on Sonar Kollektiv. I spent the last while producing an album for a friend of mine, Stee Downes, that is out now on SK too. After I finished the album they decided to release a 12" of remixes. The album is very 'organic' - no synths or anything, so I really wanted to do the complete opposite for the remix...that's why it's a little crazy ;o)

Put A Little Love In My Soul - Stee Downes (Ishfaq remix)

This is a remix I did for Beatspoke, to promote their album on Inphusion Records. Rob sent me the vocals for the entire album, I had a listen through, and was really struck by guest rapper Pumpkin - she had such a nice flow and the vocals were so on point. I decided to do a laid back soulful version, using mainly her vocals, as a contrast to the hardness of the original. The end section - that came about by smoking too much and getting a bit carried away again! Took some cleaning up after!

We Don't See - Beatspoke (Ishfaq remix)

Remix of the Zed Bias tune. Absolutely love the version Kahn did, one of my favourite remixes ever. And love the vocal - even acapella it fills the room - so wanted to have a go with it myself. Kept it simple to let the vocal shine.

Did this quite a while ago now, but still love it. Took a lot of work to get that bass sound - was so out of control and noisy I ended up having to chop all the gaps out cos they were louder than the rest of the tune. Worked out nice in the end though. Managed to squeeze in a short Bob Marley acapella too - been lying around for ages and was too short to make a whole tune out of - seemed like it was meant to go in there, and who can say no to Bob?

Actually, I started 2 completely different versions - went for this one as the goer, obviously - but I threw in the other one at the very end as a little taster. Entry for the Tokyo Dawn remix contest. Only had headphones for the mixdown as I'm currently moving and all my stuff is in storage, so forgive any weirdness! If I get a chance to do a mixdown on someone's monitors I'll re-upload. Also, just as an interesting side note, it's my first tune using Maschine (inside Cubase) so wanted to do a full tune to try it out and figured I might as well have a go at this. Love Omar's vocals.
