Here's a one-shot recreation of my set at the Living Room Stage at Shambhala Music Festival 2023. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to perform for you all at this festival, for a Western Canadian this is a dream come true. When Lion-S asked me to play this year, she asked me to harken back to the classics and give the dance floor a bit of an education, so I played some of my favourite classics that I have from my vinyl collection and a few new ones in that vein.

If there’s one thing the Got Music DJs excel at, it’s soundtracking the day after the night before. 

Long before “the afters” was even a term, there was the recovery party - an extension of the previous night’s excesses but with warm beats and warmer embraces designed to keep you smiling before the dreaded Sunday scares kicked in.  Between the 6 of us, we have facilitated and soundtracked many amazing recoveries since the early 90s, both here and abroad. 

We’ve also secured the talents of 12 of the best selectors we know to help us soundtrack the first day of the year via their superlative musical tastes. Handpicked from crews both new and old including Green and Jazzy, SOKA LOKA MOKI, Astral Planes, Analog Cabin, Systrum, Efficient Space and more, the diversity and positivity they possess is second to none.

Expect to move to the sounds of underground house, dub, jazz, drum and bass, hip hop, reggae, balearic, breakbeats, boogie, international, outernational, soul, rare groove and more.   We hope to see you there, this one is going to be special.

Isis Graham
Notoriously resilient and endlessly innovative, Esette (aka Isis Graham) has carved out a lasting legacy in Western Canada’s electronic music scene. With over two decades of experience, her unrelenting work ethic has made her a leading figure both behind the decks and behind the scenes, shaping cultural staples like The Alberta Electronic Music Conference, Girls on Decks, Substation Recordings, and Versions Patio Parties.

Graham’s roots in Calgary’s underground rave scene date back to 1998, where she witnessed the peak of renegade parties. By 1999, she transitioned into DJing, and after local bylaws led to the end of raves, she adapted by bringing her sound to some of Western Canada’s most iconic venues over the past 20 years. Her sets have graced stages at renowned clubs like the Embassy, Cherry Lounge, HIFI Club, Habitat Living Sound, and Open Studios as well as celebrated festivals like Bass Coast, WMC, Decibel, Think! Festival, and Shambhala.

In 2003, Graham co-founded Girls on Decks, a collective that was dedicated to amplifying the visibility of female and non-binary DJs in the dance music scene. While the initiative is no longer active, its impact on Calgary’s music community is undeniable, with its influence continuing to resonate today. 

Since 2007, Graham has built an impressive catalogue as a producer, with releases on Supremus Music, O*rs, Substation Recordings, RF, gaining support from top-tier artists like Maceo Plex, Fred Everything, Seth Troxler, and Jamie Jones. From 2013 to 2018, she served as A&R for the Calgary-based Substation Recordings, further nurturing local talent. She also co-founded Studio Social, Calgary’s first producer-focused listening event series, which fostered collaboration and community among music creators.

In 2016, Graham co-launched the Alberta Electronic Music Conference, a boutique gathering of electronic music masterminds that ran annually at Calgary’s National Music Centre until 2019. The conference featured 60+ panels, workshops, and mentorship opportunities for emerging artists. Recognized for her entrepreneurial spirit, she received Avenue Magazine’s "Top 40 Under 40" award in 2019. Additionally, her weekly summer residency "Versions" at Modern Love (formerly Broken City) has become a key event for community building, nurturing emerging talent and fostering Calgary’s house
music scene, celebrating its 11th season in 2024.

Esette’s passion for launching boundary-breaking initiatives extends to her identity as a performer. Ever-evolving and always effervescent, her multifaceted approach and raw passion shine through her work—continuing to inspire and energize those fortunate enough to experience her sound.
