Despite naming himself after a mythical egomaniac, Narciss’ approach to Techno is very far from self-centered, with his inspirations spanning from Samurai Movies of the 1950's across Hip-Hop from the 80's, to white-labelled tool-techno records and Anime from the 90's. 

Undeterred by the tonal difference in these influences though, the glue holding all of them together is an earnest sense of emotion and Narciss’ audible wish to make a crowd move as ecstatically as possible.

POSSESSION PODCAST #218 - DINA

Hailing from Toronto and now based in Berlin, DINA is a rising techno star and one part of Nachtcrew – a label and party series fusing rave sounds, art and 3D mapping in order to provide a totally immersive sensorial experience.

DINA has become a central figure in the Toronto underground techno scene by providing local artists with a platform via her own Nachtcrew events whilst being a regular at infamous warehouse parties.

Since DINA’s debut EP on Molten Moods, she has been releasing on various compilations and labels including Space Trax, Al Gharib, Ismus, Huntley’s + Palmers, and more recently an EP on Nachtcrew imprint. Her production spans spacey ambience, punching techno basslines, and ethereal trance melodies. She has many new stellar projects and releases in the pipeline.

After gaining dozens of followers on Tiktok, Bad Boombox ventured into starting his own record label, fashion brand, and totally legal massage clinic. Expect Bad Boombox at a pub near you in 2025.

On commençait à s’impatienter : welcome to Bad Boombox, l’un des DJs les plus fancy du moment dans notre série Treecast. Bercé par un papa fan d’eurodance, ce n’était qu’une question de temps pour que le monde entier découvre le Bad Boombox style. D’abord révélé grâce au banger des bangers Medulla, il tourne maintenant dans les clubs et festivals du monde entier. On prend une grande inspiration et on ajuste bien son casque : le DJ balance un mix techno hard-groove 100% qualité 100% sexy 🔊🔊

- Quel est ton processus de création ? 

Mon processus créatif pour faire des morceaux est un peu un bordel organisé, mais c'est comme ça que je l'aime. J'aime me mettre dans cet état où je peux me sentir libre de coller des sons aléatoires ensemble et de foncer, pour voir si quelque chose colle. Parfois, l'idée vient de mon envie de me moquer de quelque chose, et parfois c'est quand j'entends quelque chose qui m'inspire et que j'essaie de m’en emparer d'une manière ou d'une autre. Quelques semaines/mois de test du mix en club sont absolument nécessaires.

- Quelles sont tes inspirations ? 

Je suis très inspiré non seulement par les sons, mais aussi par le style et la philosophie de la musique avec laquelle j'ai grandi : Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, Prodigy, entre autres. Ce genre d'approche amusante, accrocheuse et groovy de la musique et de la danse me colle à la peau et je veux la canaliser autant que possible. Actuellement, j'aime mélanger mes influences de house, de trance, de danse latino-américaine et de techno rapide. A bientôt sur le dancefloor pour de nouvelles surprises ! 


- Parle-nous d'un ou deux morceaux de ton set.

J'ai joué quelques nouveaux morceaux que j'adore, ainsi que quelques classiques. Ce nouveau titre de Janis Zielinski, "Take It Back", me trotte dans la tête depuis des semaines. Il a vraiment réussi son coup. J'ai également joué un morceau inédit intitulé "Sofia Marina" qui, je pense, s'intègre bien dans ce mix. Il m'a été inspiré par l'hiver que j'ai passé en Bulgarie, où il faisait froid, mais où j'avais envie de me rendre dans un endroit tropical et caribéen. Je le joue dans les clubs depuis le début de l'hiver.

- What is your creative process? 

My creative process for making tracks is a bit of an organized mess but that's how I like it. I like to go into this state in which I can feel free to throw random sounds together and just go with it, to see if something sticks. Everything starts from scratch. Sometimes the idea comes from me wanting to make fun of something, and sometimes it's when I hear something that inspires me and I try to bastardize it somehow. A few weeks/months of testing the mix at the club is absolutely crucial too.

- What are your inspirations? 

I'm very inspired by not only the sounds but also the style and philosophy of the music I grew up with. Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, Prodigy, among others. This kind of fun, catchy, groovy approach to music and dancing runs in my blood so I want to channel it as much as possible. Currently I like to blend my influences from house, trance, Latin-American dance, and fast techno. See you on the dancefloor soon for some new surprises!

- Tell us about one or two tracks from your set.

 I played some new tracks I really love, and a couple of classics as well. This upcoming track from Janis Zielinski called "Take It Back" has been stuck in my head for weeks and it sounds so uplifting and pleasant. He really nailed it with that one. I also played an unreleased track of mine called "Sofia Marina" that I think fit well in this mix. It was inspired by my winter spent in Bulgaria being cold - but longing for a visit somewhere tropical and Caribbean. I've been playing it at the clubs since the start of the winter. Enjoy!
